    Renovating my Sequel 2 panels..Part 2.

ML renovation.. Hi Bernard, just saw your post today. I did get a litle advice from ML, but really did loads of research myself, and with the help of Rob from ER audio in Australia. The coating most certainly is different from the original, but shouldn't have a great influence on the sound...

My quest's are not working properly, help please!

It sounds like something really silly like no power to the supplies on the ML's. Are they plugged in at the same source outlet?

Father time has cought up with my CLS panels

The connection to the mylar is via a copper strip which is stuck to the mylar film and the wire is connected to that. Lee

My quest's are not working properly, help please!

Don't panic-it's probably in the electronics, as said, check 3 wires to crossover, or may be in the HT supply, it's probably just a mechanical connection. Lee

Father time has cought up with my CLS panels

Hi CAP, a further thought, if a little ambitious, you could try replacing the mylar film, noting where the dividing spars go, and recoat, as I did. I did quite a lot of research into stats before I tackled my project. Another member called The gliding Dutchmen did a renovation on his CLS's...

Father time has cought up with my CLS panels

Have a go at renovating your CLS.. As mentioned above, I did this to my Sequels. What I didn't mention is that I didn't use any hairdryer treatment for a wrinkle or two, but was able to lift the edge stripping from the rear stator (it's sticky) and just stretch it a tiny bit to get the tension...

    Renovating my Sequel 2 panels..Part 2.

Hi C.A.P, the conductive coating material was ER audio's own recipe..but is available on their website. Lee

    Renovating my Sequel 2 panels..Part 2.

Hi Justin, the coating was only ever applied to one side of the mylar film. you don't coat both sides! I did like the CLZ- I just don't think it was matched that well. I do listen to a lot of live music, from classical to rock concerts. I'm quite confident I know how real acoustic...

    Renovating my Sequel 2 panels..Part 2.

Hi Justin, interesting to hear your views on the CLZ. Maybe my expectations were too high-they were seamless, sublime, detailed. But there was something missing to me. I didn't feel emotionally moved. to me, they just sounded lifeless. I'm convinced it's not the CLZ fault. There are two...

    Renovating my Sequel 2 panels..Part 2.

Hello Tim, well in answer to your question about the Avantgardes, they are of course completely different to the Sequels. The Sequel panels roll off in the lower mid and so sound a little thin compared to the Avantgardes. having said that, the space, atmosphere and scale around the sequels is...

    Renovating my Sequel 2 panels..Part 2.

This continues the project from Part 1 in which I was applying the conductive fluid to the mylar film..Photo 1 shows a few sections coated, you can see the more opaque coating. The original coating was applied only up to about 3 or 4mm from the spars, so then I 'rubbed off' some of the coating...

    Renovating my Sequel 2 panels...part 1

Earlier this year I bought a pair of Sequel 2's that had a problem with parts of the panels, in that certain sections had little or no output. As I purchased these pretty cheaply, I thought it was a good opportunity to 'have a go myself' at refurbishing/repairing these speakers; I am an...

Hello I'm a new member with a pair of Sequel 2's..

Thanks everyone for your replies! Now I live in rip off Great Britain. I phoned Absolute sounds and they quoted me 900 pounds for new panels! I met the splendid gentleman who sold me the Sequels, and he offered to take the Sequels back, or an arrangement where I buy them at much lower price...

Hello I'm a new member with a pair of Sequel 2's..

Thanks a lot for your replies, Jonathon and Dan. I'm going to ring absolute sounds tomorrow about panel renewel. I've read on this site that new panels sound brighter. Goodness, well these sequels don't exactly sound dull! I don't really want any more brightness! I have just tonight been to...

Hello I'm a new member with a pair of Sequel 2's..

Goodness the showering method sounds a bit scary! I'll have a look up on that method. Our water here is quite hard (it causes limescale) I tried vacuuming them already, that did not make any difference. I guess then it's the sheet diaphragm that deteriorates, do ML supply just that, ie is it...

Hello I'm a new member with a pair of Sequel 2's..

Thanks so much for the reply Jonathon, I paid 600 pounds for them, and as it seems to be dollar for pound, (they would be 3000 pounds new over here, or just under 6000 dollars I thought that was a reasonable price?) I take your advice on panel replacement, but I must admit I still don't...

Hello I'm a new member with a pair of Sequel 2's..

15 years ago I remember hearing a pair of Quest's at a demo evening in a high end local HIFI shop..I was pretty blown away by them, and having recently taken an interest in upgrading my HIFI, I replaced my PROAC supertowers with a pair of relatively cheap S/H Sequel 2 loudspeakers. I must say...
