Yup, I think that has hurt resale. I had someone very interested in my speakers a couple of weeks ago, but he got turned off when ML told him the cost of a repanel went up to $1500.
Thanks for everyone's replies. I just sold the speakers to a local buyer today. The buyer didn't want the Sound Anchor stands that I also have, so if anyone wants those, they're up for sale...
$2K seems to be what some people are asking. A year or two ago, I would have thought that was quite a bargain, yet the speakers don't seem to be selling at that price now. Sign of the times I suppose...
I wanted to get some feedback from the group about the current value of a pair of CLS IIz in excellent (8/10) condition. I'm currently trying to sell my pair and, while I've had some interest, I'm not getting as many inquiries as I would have expected. Of course the poor economy is likely a...
I've got my CLS IIzs for sale and a prospective buyer inquired with ML about the current cost of replacement panels (the panels sound perfect and don't need replacing as far as I can tell, but the buyer is concerned anyway). He e-mailed Jim Powers who replied that new panels are now...
I meant to post this a while back but didn't get a chance. When I bought my IIzs they came with a pair of Sound Anchor stands. The speakers already pushed the limits size-wise for my relatively small room, so I figured the stands would push them way over the limit visually. So I put the...
I'm currently driving my CLS IIzs with a Plinius SA-103 (preamp is a Hovland HP-100 with MC step-up) and love the combo, but I'm thinking about downsizing my system a bit - but keeping the IIzs :D Since I need phono, I was thinking that a Plinius 9200 might fit the bill, but I wasn't sure if it...
This is pretty common with the older ML hybrids, I had the same issue with my SL3s - my panels slid down and took the woofer grille with them. What I did was remove the ESL panel, pull off the old foam tape and replace it with new double-sided foam tape that I bought at a local hardware store...
Although it would feel a bit blasphemous ;) I'd probably give it a go and see how it works out. If the improvement in your two-channel listening is that great, it might be worth the sacrifice. You can always go back to the old configuration if the benefits aren't as great as you thought...
I've hunted around on the web and haven't been able to find any installation instructions for the CLS Sound Anchor stands. I've got a pair that I haven't been able to sell and thought I'd install them and give them a go. But they came with my IIzs and I don't have the installation instructions...
