when I first joined I owned Martin Logans. I was interested to see what others thought as I've never really talked with anyone else that owned them. Also, I was hoping that I could meet locals...

none of my other friends would ever spend 20k + on a sound system and I like to talk to other people who have similar equipment as I have a lot to learn as well as much knowledge to offer . I have learned a lot about audio from this forum. its nice to talk to people who have similar interest and gear who are not trying to sell you something. If sometimes I seem a little argumentative it may just be the devils advocate inside me trying to pry the information out of you all and do not mean to cause any stress. never would I have thought that there would be this much enthusiasm for a brand of speaker it just goes to show once again how great a speaker manufacture Martin Logan is and how dynamic an interest this is.

Initially I joined after owning my Summits for a year and not being able to achieve the sq that I expected from a $10K pair of speakers. I wanted others input on what to match up and how to improve setup etc etc. As it turns out, I got that and a whole lot more. You are a great group of guys and gals with lots of interesting things to say on a variety of topics even extending beyond this hobby.

I joined hoping to meet girls !

As many have stated its always nice to chat with someone as loony as yourself . Plus where else can you get this much information on a direct subject like we have!

To learn much more about the Martin Logan speakers...and to see what I could find out about the mythical "SummitX."

I started with Aeon i, then Ascent i, currently Summits. Been terribly impressed with them all. Sure has compromised the work ethic I used to have, tho...:D

My reasons for joining are much the same as everyone else's, except I don't currently have a pair of MLs. So I guess my main reason for joining was to learn more about them--which I have!

I also like hanging out with like-minded peeps!

Well, the place seemed nice n' cozy. Plus, I felt obligated to harass my friend - Joey (whom of which I haven't heard from in awhile... guess he's out making the real $$$$ now!)... As stated above, it's always good to riff away with like minded folk. I also find this forum to be very mild mannered, compared to some of the other boards I've been to.

I like to see audio porn...and fortunately we have pornographers like User211, who, despite the junkie handle, is a good photographer.

Well - I think you all have hit on it... but, why this forum? We have people here that can discuss topics and not get into a huge flame war... I used to hang out on audioasylum every now and then in the hi-rez area...not any more... Just too many people getting way off topic - getting personal etc... I find everyone here great - and I will give a tip of the hat to our moderators as well for that.

I initially came here to learn about ML. I've only been a ML owner for less than a year. For me, it has been like Einstein's "Year of Miracles". Learned a lot, spent way too much money yet had fun all along the way.

I enjoy the fact that a person can come here and not get brutally flamed for a choice in gear or opinion. There are plenty of sites for that. I for one am glad this is not one of them. This is the first site I've felt comfortable enough to actually speak with someone on the phone.

Thanks to all, Gordon

Where have you been? You've got a lot of reading to do girl...

Yeah... I Know....

Where have you been? You've got a lot of reading to do girl...

:D That's for sure....

OMG, you guys have been soooo chatty lately... It's just lovely to read all your facinating, interestingly thought provoking communications though. Everyone here are audiophiles of the highest order. The simple fact is, I just love it here and can't get enough of you guys... :D

Shake, tremble - man, I need a new Hi-Fi show fix so I can deal you all some fresh junk...:)

Anyway, I think there is something slightly freaky about these online forums. We don't really have any idea who we are talking to... yet will still post away merrily.... don't you find that a bit strange? We even post pictures of ourselves, as if trying to assume some sort of online identity. I did so just the other day, then kind of questioned what I was doing, really!

We also seem to attach creedance to what other people think even though we have no idea whether their tastes match our own, or even if if they are tone deaf!

However, I do enjoy it... it's just good fun reading what other people think, really.

Anyway, I agree with CAP - I joined for the girls. Where are they?:)

Oh and Bernard - I have bad days too... shame, actually - this TT had blue headlights on the cartridge!

I joined way back in early 2003 for more information on these wonderful speakers I'd owned for a decade or more.

Then, over the years since, it has turned into a great place to build friendships with like-minded individuals, and to share and learn more about this hobby.

It's a daily habit to visit the forum as I have my morning coffee and I look forward to the news and happenings of my fellow MLOC members.

As others have noted, we keep it civil, focused and fun.

I questioned that too. I did it as I thought it was unfair not to when all the other prolific posters had already posted their pics, so I knew what they looked like, but they did not know what I looked like.

Agreed! But I do know that if I did meet some posters we would discuss common interests in music/food/wine.
