The American History Museum recently re-opened. They did a really nice job with the re-modeling.

I borrowed the girlfriend's camera and snapped a few pictures. For those of you that might make a trip down, be sure to check out this museum. Everything from the flag that inspired our National Anthem (it's huge!), to George Washington's uniform, Abe Lincoln's hat, Dorothy's red slippers, and, of course, the Seinfeld Puffy Shirt is on display.

Ahhh yes , good stuff Erik ! I recognize the locomotive as the Southern Railway, Pacific Class (4-6-2), Alco built (can't remember if it was Scenectady or Richmond though) that used to be in the Smithsonian Institute ..correct ?

You are right about the Southern Railroad train, but I don't know if it was in the Institute or not.

Did you see the new display for "Old Glory"? Its supposed to be a real high-tech marvel. I saw an article in "Smithsonian" a few months ago, and it's a pretty amazing bit of high-tech...

I was also wondering if they still have Old Glory labeled for fiber content as "Unknown". I got into a bit of a scuffle with the Textiles curator about 15 years ago over that one. (ask me about the time I was physically escorted from the building...)
