Heya ppl. I'm about to embark on the wonderful world of room treatment & renovation, which includes installing engineered wood floating floor over existing ceramic tiles. Do you think the type of underlay makes a diff to the room acoustics? As far as I'm concerned most of the parquet between me and the speakers will be covered in carpet, but some parts will be exposed to the hefty subs of my Summits :D.
Any suggestions? Should I go with the regular cheapo underlay or use something more exotic such as this: http://www.quick-step.com/others/oth/en/underfloor.aspx (unisound pro).

THX!

Get the best underlay you can fit/afford.

What you do not want is any space between the floor and the subfloor. If there is the entire floor can resonate and acts like a huge diaphragm.

I have heard of many people being unhappy with the sound after installing 'floating' floors. Usually because the floor is not coupled properly to the subfloor.
