There were a couple of things that caught my attention in the "Remembering 9/11" thread, but I didn't want to post my observations there, in order to give that thread the respect it deserves. Here they are:

Rich says, "Though I am a photographer at heart......". I would NEVER have guessed ! Not in a month of Sundays! :p

Dave says he was varmint hunting. Does this make him a relative of Elmer Fudd?

Rich's photographs of his system are pretty spectacular....

Oh wait...

I'm just no good with architectural and interior work. More of a landscape/wildlife/macro/portrait kind of photographer. :D

Rich, that's what I would call a snapshot. A portrait is usually taken indoors in a formal setting, and the model is not supposed to be smiling :)

Seriously though, are you familiar with the work of Yusuf Karsh? He used to live in Ottawa, worked only in B&W, and took some great pictures.

Bernard, in photography, a portrait refers to a shot of a person (or small group of people) in which the face and expression are dominant. Portraits are often shot indoors under controlled lighting and with a fake backdrop, but they are also often shot outdoors in natural lighting and with natural backdrops. The idea is to bring out the expression and feeling of the subject, whether they be happy (as my subject here) or brooding (as apparently you think they should be).

Snapshot? Are you kidding? You're killing me.

Not familiar with Karsh. I'll have to look him up.

Hey, you might be on to something here, Justin. I'll work on that and get back to you when I have something to post.
