Source or EM ESL?

Using a Stage Center Channel and Encores for Real Channels. I have been using ML Re-Quest temporarily for L-R, but they are too big for the video room. Sources are on sale over Internet for pretty cheap. I listened to EM ESL at one big box store and they sounded thin. New Marantz amplification. Thoughts? Thanks!

I'd go with the newer EM ESL as I believe they are the better speakers. Was the Marantz amplification a receiver?
