SHM CDs

Has anyone purchased any of the SHM CDs from Japan. The blurb is that they have greatly improved sound quality due to the materials used in the manufacture.

I would particularly like to know if anyone has compared an SHM CD with the non SHM equivalent.

There is a large range of SHM CDs on the cdjapan website and it would be good if the claims were true.

Hi Neil,

Bought the DS / Love over Gold. Difference was audible. Definitely cleaner, etc.

Not quite the same league as a JVCXRCD reissue but worthwhile if you really like the piece of music and your system is sufficiently transparent.

I have several SHM CDs and find them to be top notch recordings! I get most from here... www.eastwindimport.com

I have bought several SHM CDs and find the higher frequencies sound better and hence ESL reproduction is enhanced over the standard CD.

I find them higher quality as well. I bought the same cd Gorden mentioned and it did sound much better than the normal cd version. I will be buying more SHM cd's in the future.
