Yet another financier has disappeared, along with all the money from his clients. I give you, the latest member of the Financial Rogues Gallery:

Arthur G. Nadel

nadel.jpg

A 75-year-old Hedge fund manager in Sarasota FL seems to have disappeared into thin air, along with an estimated $350 MILLION of his investors hard-earned money. The clients he ripped off ranged from doctors and lawyers, to retirees, to the local YMCA Foundation.

His green Subaru was found in an airport parking lot, with a note to his wife, saying how sorry he was for defrauding his community, his family, his friends, and his religious associates.

It is assumed that he is dealing with his sorrow by fleeing the country with $350 MILLION in secure off-shore accounts.

We can only hope and pray that the money turns up, and Mr. Nadel "does the right thing"...

It's to bad you can't take that money with you when you die! what a P.O.S can't people be happy with what they have it's not like he was starving or anything.

As with every other one of these greedy, money-grubbing weasels, I have just one word to sum up their modus operandi:

SOCIOPATHY

This is not being addressed in the media, and THAT is as big a crime and cover-up as the original scams these scumbags pulled off. The fact that there are not legions of Sociologists, Psychologists, and Criminal Profilers lining up to do "talking head" spots on CNN and MSNBC warning the public of the near-ubiquity of sociopathic personalities in the Financial and Government Sectors is perhaps the biggest crime of all this huge mess.

These folks--Nadel, Madoff, Sonja Kohn, Villehuchet, Schrenker--are all, to a one, textbook sociopaths. They are the sort of people who have no "moral alarm" in their brains that prevents them from doing evil. They have complete disregard for humanity; for morality; for social, legal, or religious laws; and they actually take great pride in knowing that they can look their "marks" straight in the eye and tell the most egregious lies through their honey-dripping, smooth-talking, wolf-fanged yaps.

The ones that have committed suicide haven't done so because they felt remorse for their actions, or were somehow overtaken with guilt. They did it because they got caught. They did it because they realised that there was no way to get out of this one--the light of righteousness is beginning to shine into the dark corners of Finance and Government, and the rats are scurrying--a few will, of course, fall off the cliff...

We need to treat these beasts like the demented creatures they are. They need to be hunted down like rabid dogs and "recalled to their manufacturer", with haste and extreme prejudice by our duly-elected and appointed officials.

The need to be removed from the gene pool so that their demonic lines cannot continue, and their families need to be put on perpetual watch, because very often, these generationally psychotic apples don't fall far from the trees...

Perhaps the French people were on the right track in 1789...

Yes, but if the major Eastern religions are correct, there should be a population explosion among RATS in the next generation...

Some People Aren't Born With Common Sense!!

happiness comes from within. gotta like yourself when you check with the "man" in the mirroir every a.m.
what does one do with 350 million anyways??
i've always said, addictive personalities are trying to feed an
emptiness inside instead of addressing the issue bothering them'
i'm not perfect, but i'm all about family , friends.
that's all there is to life !!

I really don't think that, with these people, it has anything to do with some sort of childhood trauma, or "daddy not telling them he loved them often enough" or any of that sort of "damaged inner child" crap. You are giving them too much credit.

The sorts of people who do these sorts of things are soul-less. They are, to use a technical military term, FUBAR. They are, like a crazed rabid animal, beyond repair, incapable of reform, and physically, biochemically, and spiritually INCAPABLE of remorse, guilt, or any sort of human-ness when it comes to dealing with other people. They are no different than serial killers, or repeat rapists. They are just "wired wrong", and the fact that they are often repeat offenders--continuing to commit the same sorts of crimes again and again, even after they get caught and exposed, is a testament to their fundamental inability to function on any sort of caring, socially acceptable manner. Like when Madoff, under house arrest, was transferring money and jewelry to his family and friends, to try and disperse his ill-gotten gains. Even while under house arrest, and under the scrutiny of the press, the SEC, and the FBI, he CONTINUED to run a scam, like it was perfectly normal and acceptable to flout the law. Even under all this scrutiny, he continued to act in a manner that indicated that he believes in his heart of hearts that things like federal laws and moral, social, and religious codes simply don't apply to someone of his position. That IS textbook sociopathy.

No, these people are not merely "missing something" in their tender little souls. They have a fundamental, bio-physical INABILITY to feel remorse or guilt. They genuinely do not think that silly little conventions like "right" and "wrong" apply to them. If Bernie Madoff had been born the son of a butcher, he would have left a trail of dismembered victims in freezers all over the world. As it is, his tool of destruction was a ledger book, and his victims will be left to suffer for years. Meanwhile, he is still free, and most likely will never go to jail. I imagine that if he ever gets a chance he will hot-foot it to Israel--they don't have an extradition treaty with the USA, you know...

If the Russians don't take him out first, that is. The people in the US, and the EU that were ripped off by him are, for the most part, either good, honest folk, or very high-profile people that would never risk such a venture. But there was a LOT of money ($1.8 Billion by some estimates) brought into Madoff's portfolios by the Austrian financier Sonja Kohn from the nuveau-riche oligarchs in Russia and the Ukraine, and THOSE people don't have ANY problem hiring a couple "professionals" to "take care of the problem" in a definitive and permanent manner. No wonder the FBI has him under guard--I image there have been several serious threats on his life coming from the Steppes...

We can only hope that Bernie, and those like him that seem to be popping up like crocuses in the Spring, will take matters into their own hands, and "do the right thing" themselves.

To quote the prophetically eloquent Dr. Martin Luther King, "we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream."

I'm not so sure that this is a case of money addiction or other related mental disfunction.....I am almost convinced that fraud and corruption in the financial world is the norm. Its only in recent times of tough economical circumstances (which have heavily burdened the overtaxed the middle class) that these situations have become front page news. Things like this have probably been going on forever, but in better economic times are more likely to be overlooked.

Any way you look at it, its just plain terrible. There are two kind of people in the world...those who really understand finances and those who dont. Considering all of the money problems in our country today, it appears that the former has done a number on the latter.

Sooner or later their behavior will catch up with them. Could be as simple as an ego trip for those dirtbags.
Okay folks, here's a challenge: For what they've done, what quote from the movie Serenity would be most appropriate?

I hate to sound so right wing...Brian (HSVtoolfool) would likely agree as I like his posts on similiar subjects....but after selling one home, building another (big home), selling one business, becoming partner in another business and moving a bunch of investments and finances around; both my wife and I were approached by more than a few shady financial types that offered deals that were definitely 'not in our best interest'. Why is it that my personal and private doings have become public information for the bloodsucking financial world to act upon? I've received literallly hundreds of loan offers, offers for 'mortage insurance', offers for 'liability insurance' and investment offers that mentioned IN DETAIL previous financial transactions. How the hell does this happen? Who allows this? Why do I have to "Opt Out" of a financial deal for which I never agreed to take part in, in the first place?

The hard-working over-taxed middle class is so busy financing this country's budget, paying their own bills, just staying afloat, that they havent kept on eye on this silly nonsense. This situation is UNACCEPTABLE.

Right wing?! Moi? So what if I'm hoarding precious metals?
I just felt like converting most of my hard assets into gold
and silver while the prices are relatively low, that's all. I'm
sure the US dollar won't be totally worthless in a few years
due to massive inflation caused by the trillions wasted on
socialist economic tinkering and Barney-Frank-Style insider
corruption.

Couldn't agree with you more. Living in NY I've met more than a few amoral people working in the finance sector. Having worked in the mental health field and met a few true psychopaths, it still sends shivers up my spine when I look at some of the similarities across the two groups. Your comparison is not out of line: for select members a difference in degree but not kind separates them from membership in the other group. I had both sets say similar things to me: People are dirt and empathy is for suckers. And mean it.

Corruption exists and won't go away. However, you point out the real story is the way we've encouraged our finance sector to employ these people with the grand rationalization and excuse that a business need not operate under any other stipulation than to make money any way it can as long as it stays one step ahead of the law. An entire sector of the economy has been overtaken by a sociopathic ethic. The rogue's gallery is merely the logical end to employing that ethic as a matter of course.

OK, this one is not exactly a "financial rougue", but he IS a sociopath, a nouveau-nobility scumbag, and completely amoral and soul-less. And to top it all off, he's got "Blagojevich hair". I'm starting to think that you either have to have a bad rug or be completely shaved bald to be in this club of sick SOB's...

I give you, the most prolific American Bio-Terrorist of the 21st century:

Stewert Parnell
President of "Peanut Corp Of America"
2121 Wiggington Road
Lynchburg, VA 24502-4667

parnell.jpg

This fellow technically counts as being a more prolific serial killer than Charles Manson--the death toll from his Salmonella-laden peanut products has reached 9, which is more people than were killed in Manson's "Tate/LaBianca" murders. There have also been more than 500 reported infections/illnesses reported that are directly attributable to his bio-terrorism-for-profit.

The Center for Disease Control classifies Salmonella as a "Category B bio-terrorism agent". See the following link:

http://www.bt.cdc.gov/agent/agentlist-category.asp

Mr. Parnell's paper and email trail are beginning to show that he is not only a money-grubbing sociopath , willing to put thousands of people at risk (primarily children and the elderly), but he is ALSO so single-mindedly hell-bent on amassing a quick profit that he is willing to run the family-owned company (that his father, Hugh Parnell, built with care and dedication) into the ground to do it.

Another interesting tidbit of info that isn't coming out in the mainstream news is that Parnell was first appointed to the USDA's Peanut Standards Board in July 2005 and was reappointed in October 2008 for a second term that runs until June 2011. This guy actually holds a seat on the very board that regulates his industry. Conflict of interest, or "good old boys scratching each other's backs"? Either way, it looks pretty hinky, and the USDA should have a LOT to answer for, since Parnell's company has a record of salmonella contaminations going back to 2006. You'd think that they might want to distance themselves from a bacteria-infested manufacturer rather than give him a seat on the industry's "Quality Board", and then renew his position DESPITE the fact that he had a record of dangerous (and potentially death-dealing) contamination...

Parnell runs his business from an office behind his cozy house in the suburbs of Lynchburg VA. It's a nice-looking place:

parnell_house02.jpg

His murderous profiteering killing spree has left 9 people dead, and over 500 severely sick with salmonella poisoning, all for a few more dollars in his pocket this Quarter. In China, he would be sitting in front of a firing squad instead of a televised Congressional Inquiry...

We can only pray that this scumbag, who actually instructed his employees to "turn the raw peanuts on the floor into money", and willfully authorized the shipment of peanut products that were KNOWN to be infected with salmonella, will meet appropriate justice. It would be a shame indeed if the good taxpayers of this nation were required to pay his "rent" for the next few decades. Hopefully he will "do the right thing" with his own hands...

You summed that up perfectly. He is the new avatar for corporate greed in a country on the brink of disaster due to same said greed.
