I am a newbie setting up a home theater.
A friend convinced me to look at ML and first time i heard it, i am hooked.

I am planning on the following budget setup :
ML-10 x 2 (front tower)
ML-motion-8 x 1 (center)
ML-4 x 2 (side)
ML-2 x 2 (rear)
ML-dynamo 500 - sub

I was suggested pioneer VSX-1020-K receiver.
I couldn't get the impedance value on this receiver from the US site whether it matches ML at 8ohms.

Local frys sales was pushing harman.

I am told DENON AVR 1611/1911 as another choice.

I am trying to keep the budget under 3.5k.

Can you guys help a newbie out?

thanks
-jerry

I do not know how much those receivers cost ... but, if I were looking at a HT and I wanted to get something that I thought would give me higher quality for a cheaper price -- I would consider the emotiva brand ... take a look at the umc-1 link above... Mate that with their 7 channel amp - and you are looking at 1200 for the amp + processor... pretty slick - I think. Just a thought. Maybe somebody who has experience with their product could comment? To me- that just looks like a screaming deal... but, I am not an HT wizard by a long shot....

Welcome Jerry -

Maybe it will help members to know how much $$ you have remaining for electronics after the purchase (congratulations BTW) of those fancy speakers. Are you also looking for a DVD player?

Do you know about Audiogon? It made a lot possible for me by its vast offerings of used gear. If you are comfortable with used, check it out.

timm,

The speakers are around 2.5k and i had a 3k budget.

I will check out the emotiva.

thanks,
-jerry

TomD,

I had a strict budget of 3k which puts me at 500$ to spare...

I didn't know about audiogon, i will check it out.

thanks,
