Great... my one photo with my other gf (Maxx2) and I look retarded!!!

Oooh... the pic of the Grand Prix Monaco though... looks like I was trying to lift it and leave the store with it! Hmmm.....

Thanks for the best account of the entire day, Chris! I enjoyed reading everything you wrote and having you over. I will invite you again once I move to a nicer place, this time... for dinner (since we already had lunch) and music. Perhaps even a double date to a movie or something so you can meet my better half (and yell at her for ruining my going to Burke's)!!!

Also, looking forward to the extra pics from the last part of the meet that I unfortunately missed out on!

Thanks for the spiffy shots, Chris!! I think you deserve three cheers from the Chicago ML group!

Joey

Thanks for the thanks! I'd be more than happy to come out again, as would Lindz. I miss the city everyday, and like I had said, being at Cherians, really made me miss my old apt. I had a great time and I definitely second that you missed out on the trip to Burkes. Next time you MUST GO!!!! I think the next chitown meet will most likely be down to Waynes. At least you can be treated to logan HT there as well. I think its very fun to see the differences in peoples setups be it 2ch or HT. or both!

Stay tuned though, more to come.... The video on the other hand, well.....come on people!!! I've only got two hands!

If you believe it, I actually was choosey with the shots to upload, prolly another 50 or so that I have in the HD.

mmmmmmmm........Rosso Corsa.......almost looks as good on Wilsons as it does on a Ferrari......looks like a fun time. :)

Did anyone get a shot of the food?

Did you guys listen to stereo or purely HT at Burkes?

I want info to live vicariously through with regards to the meeting at Burkes...

Of course there's no pix of the food man!!!! We were too busy chowing down!!!

Btw- thanks to Burke's wife for the home made eggrolls.... yummy ;)

There were demos of both. I do not remember the name of the creator of the disk, hes from the forum.... it was a home theater demo disk, compilation of many scenes from many different movies. We also listened to lots of 2ch stuff, but since the capability was there many of the sacd and dvd-a that we listened to was in the 5.1 track.

1. Dah... scarfed down before the camera could take a pic!
2. I think that's Alex... aka Munster! Glad that you guys put his awesome HT demo discs to good use!

Wish I was there... well, we always have next year, our 3rd Annual Chicago Meet! :)

Correction! It was Wayne's wife who made the egg rolls. Thanks to Wayne's wife.

She must have made three dozen, and they were just as good for lunch today as yesterday.

It was indeed Alex's demo disc, Thanks to Wayne for having a copy. It makes HT demos effortless as all the good scenes are gathered together.

You are welcome any time. you do not have to wait for next year.

What I learned

The Pioneer Elite is ok, but I really need a better amp for the Summits. Should I get a reasonably priced 2ch Sunfire, or go for broke on a Theta Digital Dreadnaught II.

Wayne brought over his GIK 244s, corner bass traps (GIK tri-traps) will tighten up the bass.

Wayne is really tall.

The Wilson's sound great, but need a really big room 15W x 30D x 15H but not 5 times better than the Summits.

I'll keep that in mind. Next time you're over in Chicago-loop and you want to meet up for an impromptu meet, let me know. It's a LOT easier to do demo-ing with just 2 people as a lot more time gets spent in the sweetspot. I made a mistake of doing an A vs A/B comparison on the not-very-resolving Minis for you, with the rest of the people, I realized that I did the A vs A/B comparison with the Summits.

My fault....

Anyway... don't forget to shoot me an email regarding the Sonos when you're ready. Then I'll see if my friend can accommodate another set of Sonos orders.

:)

We were given demonstrations between 2 sets of variables. First was the difference between the Squeezbox, and his nice tooobed DAC. The second was the differences between Class A and Class A/B from his Plinius. While the differences could be heard on the minis, once these variables were played with on the Summits EVERYTHING BECAME MUCH CLEARER!

My greatest thought was the effectiveness and fantastic sound reproduction that Joey's DAC is capable of. If it were me, I would always run though that and not str8 from the squeezebox, although on the other hand, when performing say a mixdown or some other production based function it might be better through the squeezebox, for its flatter reproduction. Just my .02
Correction, Chris....

The Preamp is toobed.

The DAC is solid-state Class A with mosfet output stages.

Glad you liked the DAC! I had my friend over today and he never heard my system with the DAC before and he said the difference was big! And, to top it off, the warmth and solidity that the Class A bias from the Plinius gives the music reproduction is definitely the Cherry on top!!!

Joey :) :)

I spoke too Soon!

Too little Tandoori chicken will do that to ya!

Dont be sorry about anything! If it wasnt for your spectacular photo-taking abilities, we wouldn't have anything to have remembered the meet by!

Say hello to Lindz for me, gotta give a shoutout to your better half! :)

Joey

Great Pics

Second that, Great Photo's Chris.
Also Chris loved your narritive of the days events.

Second Burke's statement as well, No need to wait for next year.
You guys are welcome anytime.

I really enjoyed the Class A/B, Class A comparisons, There was a difference even though it was very subtle.
As a Plinius owner, doing a quick switch from A/B to A will not really show off the ability of this amp in Class A. It takes about an hour to reach stability and to reach its full Class A sound potential (yes the sound does change over the first hour). While there is a difference when switching, that you heard and stated, you should really hear the amp after it has been in Class A for an hour or two, this is where it will really start to shine and show its abilities. And the differences then compared to the quick swich change is not subtle.
