Hey folks, greetings from Macau! I'm over here for a week working on an installation we are doing for the new Venetian Macau resort opening next month. I've also got a day or so in Hong Kong and 2 in Shanghai before I head back to the States. I was hoping to drop in on "KrellYour World" (Fabio - System 201) while I was over here, but wouldn't you know, he's going to be in Japan.
Things I've learned so far...
The hotel has it's own "Naughy area's". On the elevator one floor is labeled "Gentlemens Club" and the one above it is labeled "Lap Dance". Both are about 30 floors below where I'm at.
I've never had eggs, fried noodles and kim-chee in the same breakfast before. I hope that isn't a choice I'll regret later.
Macau is giving Las Vegas a run for the money. Last year they actually beat Las Vegas as far as the amount of money wagered. They are also very much on track as far as the same over the top casino's. Venitian, Sands, Alladin - you name them, they're here.
They have some very cool architecture and public art all about the city. Here is a couple of shots. On is a giant fully open Lotus blossom which I believe is the symbol for the special zone that encompases Macau (much like Hong Kong is also a special zone off the shore of mainland China). The other is the Sands Hotel and Casino. I could see this building from at least a mile off shore when it was all lit up last night while riding the hydro ferry over from Hong Kong.
Good to have the site as a bit of an anchor for checking in from afar!
