As a die-hard Packers fan, I am really sad to see all the circus that has been the Brett Favre story this last month or so. Too many hard feelings on both sides prevented Brett from returning to the Packers and now they've traded him to the Jets.

I wish him well... Thanks for the great memories, Brett.

GO PACK GO!

Just wait until you see thousands of fans with Farve Jet's jerseys for all Green Bay home games (esp. if Rogers is a bust). This has been quite a power struggle and probably the only way it could end. Ted has helped take a 4-12 team to 8-8 and then 13-3 but I think he really messed this up. It is hard to imagine we are a better team without Brett...

True, but we may be a better team without Pennington. I feel sorry for him also.

I think Brett's annual waffling about whether he's coming back or not always put the Packers management in a very difficult position every year.

I was VERY surprised when he announced his retirement. He just finished a great year, but the last play of his career was a pick in OT to lose a chance at going to the Super Bowl!! IMHO, that is NOT a good way to go out.

If I were part of the Packers management, I would've sat Brett down a week after that game and gotten him PUMPED UP about his season and the future. Make him not even think about retirement. He would've come back to Green Bay this season and we would've had a real good chance to make it all the way.

As it turns out, too much damage was done by both sides and it's better that he's gone. The Packers can focus on the future. It doesn't matter what jersey he wears for the next couple of years.. He'll always be a Packer. Montana is a 49er, not a Chief.

If Brett lights it up in NY and Rodgers is a bust, look for Ted Thompson AND Mike McCarthy to get their walking papers.

If Brett crashes and burns in NY, Thompson did the right thing. and Brett better be ready for the fans in NY.. They will crucify him if he doesn't perform.

I am a DIE HARD Packers fan, so I'm glad this is all over now and we can focus on the season.

And you guys should look for me on TV on the first game of the season.. It's a Monday night game against the Vikings at Lambeau. My first ever trip to Lambeau and I'll be on the 40 yard line behind the Packers bench, 4 rows from the field!! YIPPEE!

Favre

I agree Tom. I remember watching the first Superbowl with my Dad and have been a Pack fan ever since.
Both sides are too good for the spectacle that they have become.
I know little about Aaron Rogers. How will he be?
I have never been a Jets fan but may have to include them on my favorite teams list now.

Tom, it'll likely be pretty hard to pick you out of the crown in a sea of Green/Yellow and Purple/White. I'm gonna send you a nice bright orange Denver Bronco's jersey that you can wear to the game so we can all spot you.

That or perhaps you can wait for an opportune time when the cameras are panning the crowd and you can jump up and moon everybody.

Either way we'll know that you're either the guy getting the snot kicked out of him or the guy being escorted out by security.

Regarding the whole Farve thing, I'm sorry I just can't picture him in a Jets uniform. At least he looks good in green I guess. Sum-bytch beat us on the first friggin' play of overtime on a Monday night last year so my personal favorite memory of him is his stunning portrayal of himself in "Something About Mary"...Farr-verrr-uugh?

As a Bills fan since day one, I'm looking forward to seeing his butt dumped on the turf often this year !!

His tearfull retierement this past spring made me loose an once or two of respect, and I agree it's been a media circus the past couple of weeks.

Hopefully when he does retire for good it will be "in good health" !

Aaron Rogers has a lot of potential. He knows the system and has the ability. He played very well last season against Dallas when Favre got knocked out of the game. I don't think he's as durable as Favre (who is?), but I think he's gonna be a good one.

I keep telling myself that, anyway...

Hi Tom,

I need some help understanding this whole BF thing.

From the outside, it seems like BF created this whole media circus (resigning / no, I want to play again, playing off the fan loyalty, etc.) and frankly, comes across to me as a big whiner. I'm sure there's much more to the story.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Best regards,

Gordon

What I don't understand is their relauctance to trade him to certain teams if Minnesota was willing to give them more than the Jets why not do it.
