Thinking about getting into the music server scene. Has anybody tried or have opinions on a Emotiva XDA-1\Squeeze box touch combo? Would there be a huge drop off from CD?

What is your current CD, and rest of your gear?

Frankly, at it's price point, I would be surprised if the XDA-1 DAC offers any improvement over the native Touch DAC (which many folks compare favorably to DAC's at the $1000+ price point). I suggest just trying the Touch by itself and seeing how you like it. Also, if your current CD player offers a digital input, you can directly compare them.

If you decide you'd like to take the Touch digital output "to the next level" there are tons of online discussions re the pros/cons of pairing various outboard DAC's with the Touch. For example...
