Well guys,

As some of you may know, computers are not my strong suit.

Had 0.5 gigs. Added 2 more. Cost $40. What a phenomenal difference in speed.

For those who have limited RAM and can add more, by all means do.

Great bang for the buck.

Wasn't it Bill Gates who said that personal computers would never need more than 2.5kb of RAM?
My own bit of frustration at home is going through some "end of life" component failures. Optical drive so far. I'm saving up for a notebook.

Actually, Bill claimed 640K was plenty. This was back in the 80's, though.

The first computer I programmed as a full-time job (an IBM 1401), had all of 16K, and half of that was in a washing machine-sized expansion.

They would have fallen over back then to know RAM would be so cheap.

Regardless of brand, if you can add RAM to your box, now is a great time to buy. As noted, it really makes a difference.
