    New ML Center Channels

To save you a bit of time I am directing you to the URL for my review of the Illusion ESL 34A. Spoiler Alert: it is simply that best center channel that I have heard and is a perfect match for the larger ML Panels. https://www.theaterbyte.com/category/hardware-gear-electronics/speakers-hardware

    Mixing & Matching Center Speaker?

You did not specify your R and L speakers. This is important when picking a center channel because you want to have as seamless transition as possible when the sound shifts from center (where most of it is in videodiscs) to either side. The properties of ESL and Folded motion tweeters are close...

New Center Channel for Martin Logan

Thanks for the update. Guess I will have to just wait a month to find out.

New Center Channel for Martin Logan

Anyone heard about a new top of the line center channel speaker by M-L?

    Crossover settings for HT playback

Sandeep, A couple of points to consider in set up. 1. The Montis crosses over to its powered woofer at 345 hz. Its set up can be optimized with your Marantz SR 7009 in the speaker set up menu. Theoretically you would want to be sure that it is set up as a full range speaker since the Paradigm...

Anyone use M-L Stages as rear channels in 7.1 system

Hi Folks, For purposes of being able to review new Blu-ray film and audio releases in 7.1 channel format (Dolby Atmos defaults to TrueHD 7.1) , I am going to be compelled to add two rear channels to my 5.4 M-L System (#308) that consists of CLXs, Stage X and a pair of Balanced Force 212s and a...

BIG news from ML coming out of 2016 CES...

I spent a good bit of time with the Renaissance ESL 15A. Superficially, and from the front, it looks a bit like the Summit but with a much wider CLS panel. From the side, it has a much deeper woofer cabinet (needed for 2 12" subs and amplifiers). Sonically, the Venetian hotel rooms are a little...

New Center Channel from Martin Logan

There is some scuttlebutt that M-L has a new ESL/hybrid center channel in the works to replace the stage and accommodate the greater ESL surface area that its larger speakers like the CLX and now the Neolith can muster. Anyone heard anything or do I have to wait for the 2016 CES?

    Stage vs. Stage X

I have both. It really depends on what speakers you are using for your main R/L channels. I found that the Stage X integrated significantly better with my CLXs than the Stage (although the latter was not bad). The X's folded tweeter comes closer to matching the sound of ESL than the Stage's...

Anyone have the MartinLogan BalancedForce 210/212 subwoofer?

May The Balanced Force 212 Be With You I have gone up the ML Subwoofer ladder from the Descent to the Descent-i and now to the BF 212. My system (#308) is based on the CLXs, Stage X and EFX electrostats. With the Perfect Bass Kit and specific filters for the CLXs the match between the subs and...

    Martin Logan EFX as rears??????

I have my EFXs on the rear wall, about two feet behind my listening position. They are eight feet from the center of the listening position. Mounted height places the middle of the ESL panel at ear level. The output volume has been balanced with the front and center channels through my surround...

    Upgrade from my Ascents?

You did not specify your room dimensions as this is a very important consideration for how much more speaker or bass your listening room can accommodate. An additional point is how far your listening position is from your speakers and if you have any sound treatment in your room. I would agree...

Balanced Force 212 Subs are now in the house!

Thanks Gordon for the comment. Actually I have three rooms for evaluating equipment. My main home theater/audio command center gets the most expensive units. A second smaller room gets mid-priced stuff. The third room, equivalent to a small dorm room gets bargain equipment.

Balanced Force 212 Subs are now in the house!

I periodically write for Tone Audio and do most of writing for www.blu-raydefinition.com (byline is Lawrence D. Devoe, M.D.). On the latter website I do reviews of music and older film blu-rays, high resolution downloads, and audio/video equipment.

Balanced Force 212 Subs are now in the house!

I started out with Phase at 0 as recommended for my CLXs. Played around a bit since this very speaker placement dependent as you know. I went to 90 degrees (same as with my Descent-is) and thought that sounded best overall. The PBK is a snap to use once you get the Paradigm mike recognized by...

Balanced Force 212 Subs are now in the house!

Yesterday marked another musical epiphany in my sound room. My installer with the help of my handy man hefted two massive square cartons into the house (the speakers weigh in at 140 lbs each!), and with the two of them grunting and straining, a pair of gloss piano black Martin Logan Balanced...

    Summit Platform/install

When I had the Summits in my system, I used an isolated base from SoundGuard. I am not certain if these are still available but these devices accomplished getting the speaker off the carpet, neutralizing any vibration effects and definitely cleaned up the low frequencies. You might look at...

    power conditoner

Your need for a "power conditioner" really depends on the consistency and cleanliness of the power coming into your home (I assume you have DC in London). You could have an electrician check your wall outlets with a meter to see how much variation there is but that will not tell you how a PC...

    Summit popping noise

Does this happen with any source material or those with extremely low bass? The very first thing that I would do, if you have not done so is to switch the speaker leads and see if the popping moves to the other side. If so, then it is being induced by your primary amplifier or preamplifier. To...

New Balanced Force 210 and 212 subs!

I totally agree with the multiple sub concept. I have four subs (2 Descent-is, 2 Descents) distributed around my listening room and I also have 2 bass traps in the front corners. While no bass can be perfect, major bass nodes have been pretty much eliminated. Am considering Balanced Force 212...
