    System #342 (Vantage, Montage, Grotto-i)

Thanks for the great discussion. I am learning a lot from this. My way around this would be automatic retractable projector screen. I can put additional sound absorption panels where the TV would’ve been. Would that work.

    System #342 (Vantage, Montage, Grotto-i)

Dan - Thanks for the message. You are right in that the Vantage is slightly wider but the overall radiating area of the Theos is more than the Vantage. 405 square inches on the Theos compared to the 372 square inch on the Vantage. That could be contributing factor to my perceived wider/taller...

    System #342 (Vantage, Montage, Grotto-i)

Dan, Thanks for the question. I went with the Theos solely for the purposes of trying out the Theos. I had used the Vantages in my system for more than 2 years and wanted to hear the new panel which is slightly wider as well. I think the soundstage is slightly wider with the Theos but they...

    System #342 (Vantage, Montage, Grotto-i)

Hello! I recently made some modifications to my system by adding a Sharp Elite 70", XPA-5, and Oppo BDP-105. I have also added additional room treatments in rear of the room where one my Montage is sort of stuck in a corner. The Panels in the back have made a difference. The front panels for...

    System #342 (Vantage, Montage, Grotto-i)

Hi everyone, It's been a while since I last posted here. Over the last several months I have made several changes to my system. I have replaced the Vantage with the Theos, Motif with the Stage, Depth-i with the Descent-i. I also went with an XPA-3 and Pioneer Elite VSX-53 combination as...

System Update: I recently added the Marantz AV-7005 pre/pro and the Emotiva XPA-5 to my system. The Marantz/Emotiva/Oppo/MartinLogan combination sounds great for movies and music. I am connecting the Emotiva via balanced cables from Monoprice for now. I have also tried running the Oppo...

    System #342 (Vantage, Montage, Grotto-i)

Hello everyone. It's been a while since I last posted an update. I have updated the pics of my system with the latest addition and some subtractions. I just bought the Oppo BDP-95. I have sold the Emo gear and am back to looking for an integrated amp or a power amp. I am mainly thinking of...

JordanD and Jimna, Thanks for the question. I have tried this DAC in 2 configurations. 1) As a Preamp. (Server, CD player, and Sonos) connected to the DAC and the DAC directly connected to the XPA-2. 2) As a standalone DAC. (Server, CD player, and Sonos) connected to the DAC and the DAC...

Nice System! How do you like the Cayin A-50T? I am thinking of upgrading to the Cayin?

    System #391 (Electromotion, Fresco, Dynamo)

The best part about the ElectroMotion ESL Speakers is that they have a rated sensitivity of 91 db and a nominal impedance of 6 ohms which means that your Rotel mates well with them. If most of your listening is music than there are many other options.

Vantages Hi - Nice looking system. I used to own the Sources too before upgrading to the MartinLogan Vantage. You made the right choice. Congrats!

    System #342 (Vantage, Montage, Grotto-i)

Hi Everyone, I am really excited about some of the recent changes that I have made to my system. I have added the Emotiva XDA-1 DAC and replaced the VSX-33 with the Pioneer Elite SC-37 for HT duties. I am not sure on how to best use the DAC yet. I experimented with connecting the DAC directly...

Emotiva XPA-2 update Updated pics of the Emotiva XPA-2. Also, added pics of the Media Server. The server plays bit-perfect audio at sample rates 44.1, 88.2, 96, 176.4, 192 through Foobar2000-->ASIO4all v2-->Xonar Essence STX sound card.

    System #342 (Vantage, Montage, Grotto-i)

Emotiva XPA2 I received the Emotiva XPA-2 on Friday. The XPA-2 is powering the Vantages and my receiver (Pioneer VSX-33) is powering the Motif and the Montage (rear). The biggest thing I have noticed so far is the sheer power of the amp in stereo mode. There is simply a lot more there in the...

What is better? a Top of Line AVR or used separates for Vantage

Thank you. Thank you everyone for the advise. The Emotiva XPA-2 is currently on sale too! This thread got moved even though the topic is related to choosing an amp for the MartinLogan Vantage Speakers. Very strange.

Marantz PM-15S2 or Emotiva XPA-2 Ok, I have narrowed my choices down to Marantz integrated amp PM-15S2 or the Emotiva XPA-2. Does anyone have any experience with the Marantz integrated amp? Thanks.

System #164 (Vantage, Stage, Vignette, Grotto)

Ps3 PS3 (fatty) could decode Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio (inlcuding DTS HD) and internally and pass the signal as PCM via HDMI. The PS3 Slim can bitstream over HDMI and internally decode. Some of the older PS3's (I have the 80 gig) also have SACD decoding built-in. When playing a 3D...
