Neolith debuts at Munich High End

Some comments on the Neolith from Jeff Fritz at Soundstage. http://www.soundstageglobal.com/index.php/shows-events/high-end-2014-munich-germany/164-high-end-2014-features/506-variations-of-the-superspeaker-part-one-martinlogan-estelon-and-magico There seems to be a lot of divergent information...

Mini media-room – speaker advice request

JonFo, If you are looking for small bookshelf speakers, give Rick Craig at Selah Audio a call 919-264-6776. He does custom and kit speakers. If your budget can stretch, you might be very interested in one of his sealed cabinet designs that use a RAAL ribbon tweeter. If you are handy with wood...

My version of Stage X Beta 1

I don't know what the age of your stage is, but at one point I was doing some trouble shooting with my Stage and ML sent me a replacement tweeter. The one I removed was a Scanspeak tweeter (forget the part number now but I want to say it was a D2608) and the one I put in as a replacement was a...

    SVS Cylindrical Subwoofers with MLs?

I use a PC12 Ultra and a PC13 Ultra with my Vista's. I think they sound great. I think they are distortion free and have plenty of output. I do have to say that I think the PC13 Ultra sounds a little better than the PC12 Ultra (which is what you might expect), but the PC12 is no slouch. Some...

Silverstone (Whittlebury) UK Hi-Fi Show 2012

Sorry to be a little late in seeing this, but I wanted to say that the speaker design is the Linkwitzlab Orion speaker. Interesting that on the Analogue Alchemy, website they say they are not affiliated with Linkwitz, but it's clearly the Orion design. To get all the parts for the speakers is...

    New Center from ML: StageX

I'm with JonFo. The new tweeter may be a bit better match, but I don't think the tweeter is the main cause of the missmatch. Different radiation pattern, way smaller panel, all add up to missmatch. I complete redesign might get me to ditch my stage, but just swapping tweeters isn't a good reason...

Martin Logan Factory Tour on Soundstage

I just came across this article on Soundstage Global. It's a nice look inside the process of assembling the speakers. The gloss black Montis pair look really nice. http://www.soundstageglobal.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=87&Itemid=302 Mississauga is a lot...

+1 on the Spin Clean. I'm not ready to spend $100's on clearning records.

Help - Integrated Suggestions for Vista 2 Channel Audio Only System

I'll toss in one other. The Marantz PM 15S2. I like the sound of their AV-8003 Prepro I am using with my Vista's. I think the integrated would work well. If I was looking right now I would be very tempted by the Upgrade Company's version...

Cool watch. It's just might make me rethink my plan to get a Sony Android Walkman so I can run Sky Safari. :-)

so far, bad service with Emotiva

Last week I ordered a UPA-1 (yup, just one) to replace a Parasound mono amp that was running my Stage center channel. I ordered the amp on Monday and had it in my system on Wednesday. It seems to be reasonably well made to me for the price, and I think it sounds a little better than the...

Need Advice on Theos Purchase and Pre/Pro!

Since there was a mention about lack of alternatives for the Pre-Pro I'll chime in. Roberto mentioned Marantz, and I have the AV-8003, which I think is really excellent. The newer version, the AV-7005 is very good as well...

    Pink Floyd / WYWH SACD

I have the SACD and have listened just once to the surround track, and it is really good. Especially Welcome to the Machine. Sounds coming from everywhere and a great sense of immersion. Overall I like this one better than DSOTM.

Summit X to CLX - is it worth it?

Not to be too pickey about an obsolute technology, but the air polution hazard is not from the helium itself, (and with MRI magnets sucking the worlds helium supply away, it's getting more expensive all the time) but the polution is from the plasma ionizing the room air, not from the plasma...

Mixing 2 different brands of subs?

One thing you might want to consider when matching levels is you need to take into account the maximum output capabilities of the two subs. In the case of the REL and the Depth, I do not know which one has the greatest output capability, but I doubt if they are equal. What you want to do is set...

    Users? Opinions for Velo SMS-1

Another option would be the SVsound AS-EQ-1. It was developed with the folks at Audyssey and is able to equalize each sub independently. http://www.svsound.com/products-parts-subeq.cfm

    receiver question

Ken, I suspect that any receiver you try, would be lacking in sound quality, especially with the Summits. The AV preamps in the $2000 price range are pretty good, (Integra/Marantz), I have the older Marantz AV-8003 in my system, and I don't think it the limiting component with my sound. I would...
