Looking at integrated amps for esl11a

I have the Hegel H95 driving a pair of Vista's. Previous to that, an Anthem MRX-520. Both did drive the Vista's well but the Hegel is so much better across the range and especially in the bass. Love the Hegel so you should be good with an H190 with the ESL 11a. Maybe the H120 given your bass...

Upgrade my Vistas, Ethos vs Montis

Sweet.. Congrats! Now if only I can do the same upgrade and add another Grotti i to my system. I'll just have to enjoy yours. :)

    Worthy upgrade to Scenarios?

    I preferred the tweeters off.

    Worthy upgrade to Scenarios?

I don't really understand the technicalities but you're at least 2 generations behind in the stat panels. You can check ML's site for the techno stuff. I just trust my ears and I found that the Clarity's sounded good all over the place and amazing in the sweet spot. Honestly, sitting in the...

    Worthy upgrade to Scenarios?

I started with the Scenario and the moved to the Clarity.. what a difference! The Scenario had a really, really small sweet spot and was hard to drive and the Clarity just opened up.. bigger sweet spot and better dispersion meaning that they sounded good anywhere in the room. I'm sure the new...

New ML owner from Oregon - n00b warning

For movies, my Rotel AVR drives my entire ML system quite nicely and beyond comfortable listening levels and doesn't skip a beat. Should be in your $ range. Other options that I have tried are Parasound and a Rotel external amp (one of the 1500 series) to drive the Vista's. After I moved to my...

    DACs & DACs

Hey all, It's been a while. Went on a DAC rampage over the last few weeks and ended up purchasing two. For my main AV system, I replaced my aging (but still nice :) PS Audio DLIII with the Rega DAC. It's got about 60 hours on it and I'm finding it a significant upgrade to the DLIII. Better...

Help with selecting a center and surround speaker

Speaking from experience with a similar setup.. get the best centre channel you can. I have the Motion 4's in the rear hand am happy with that. My next upgrade will be a centre channel.. probably a Motif.

    Seeking ML Motion system advice

I have Motion 4's for my rears and they are surprisingly good. Just for giggles when I got them, I disconnected my Vista's, hooked up the 4's and ran them in 2 ch mode with my Grotto i. Not bad at all and I'm seriously considering a setup like that for a budget basement system.

    Mac mini

I'm sure part of it is Audirvana and part SSD due to reduced noise. I've been using Audirvana+ on my Mac Mini and MacBook Air. The MBA definitely sounds better through my system. Next move for me is to get a high capacity SSD for the Mac Mini. Gotta love the MacMini as a music server. Enjoy!!

    Digital amps on ESLs

My Rotel Class D gear has been very stable with no signs of overheating, clipping or shutting down. The power output doubles when you go to 4 ohms. I think @pneumonic is concerned with the cheaper Class D stuff which may not be able to handle the loads that the ML's demand and will distort or...

    Digital amps on ESLs

Just my 2 cents coming late into the thread. I've been pretty happy with my Rotel 1560 AVR with a Class D amp section. It's rated at 100 wpc into 8 ohms and 200 wpc into 4 ohms. It dirves them quite well and I've been pleased with the sound. I was leery when I first purchased it so I also got...

    Mac Book Pro DAC

Wait until you try HiRez files from your MBP into something like the M-DAC feeding your Montis system. It will blow your mind! At the moment, I'm listening to Take 5 Apple Lossless via Audirvana+/iTunes from a MacMini feeding the DragonFly into a pair of Sennheiser HD700's and it's really...

    Mac Book Pro DAC

x2 on the DragonFly. Love mine. Another option is the Schiit Modi ($99) though I haven't tried it but read some good reviews. Not sure of your price range but the Schiit Bifrost is pretty amazing and without the USB option, i.e. use Optical, it's a steal at $350. I use it with my 'HeadFi'...

    M-dac

Hey Dan.. not sure if this helps much but there's a a bit of a comparison over at Head-Fi: http://www.head-fi.org/t/603219/schiit-gungnir-dac/405#post_8780246 I've been following the M-DAC threads both here and there.
