I tried to isolate the problem by going to direct and to stereo modes. Doesn't seem to make any difference. I am going to the Martin Logan dealer with the same disk and will listen to it there. I will be able to tell if his system sounds the same.

Tried the receiver in direct and in stereo tonight ...no difference.....Sound is wonderful until you turn it up. Maybe Gordon is right ...speakers are not meant to rock at concert volume. I will audition some other speakers this weekend and let you all know the results.

I am having same type of high end distortion. Sorry for the question question, but what is Stat panel? I have Vantage sides and Stage center and at high volume the high end becomes irritating and people are literally running for cover.

The Rotel driving the fronts is a D Class stereo amp 1072...100 watts I will give that direct a try and let you know...

I know when I bought the speakers, the dealer said they were not meant for rock and roll...and couldn;t stand loud volume...but Celine and Phil Collins at a failry loud volume should not be causing me this grief....I guess I will get a troubleshooter out to have a look and there may be some...

I agree, I have turned it off and have turned down the high end as far as it will go...still the same. Somthing is amiss, but I don't know what.

Motif vs Stage I am thinking of upgrading to the stage from the motif. Does anyone have an experience with the motif?

Finding my way Thanks for thoughts....the dealer suggested the sound barriers at the rear of the vantages...but what about the motif...I think that this is the weak sister in this trio....

I have vantage fronts motif center grotto Marantz 8002 Rotel amp Recently I have been told that if I add baffles behind my vantages the sound will improve. they are currently about 2 feet away from the wall. Any experiences with this?
