    Montis review!!

Gordon, you made the comment that you spent almost five years trying to close the gap between the panel and the bass discounity on your Summits Yet I thought that when the Sumitts debute, they were highly praised for significantly closing the gap. There were many post here on this forum that all...

    Raising the debt ceiling

Gordon, I have two thoughts; the first one, this is the way democracy works, it is a slow and messy process. I am glad that I live in country where decisions that effect my life is hammered out before put into law. Unlike most countries where a despot can make changes overnight on a whim to...

Do you serve your music on a music server?

I completely moved to the dark side in using a Sony Viao laptop that is striped down as a dedicated sever. I use JRiver 16 in memory playback. The external dac is a Red Wine (NOS) Isabellina interface with a Halide bridge converter. Over 800 hundred cd ripped in FLAC. I think downloading music...

Cutting Chassis to Fit IEC Receptacle

Bernard, you know it was so long ago that I don,t remember.personally I. Don,t think it was not that significant. I did the mod based on what my dealer told me,that I would gain 20 percent improvement. I bought a mid priced Shunyata power cord and left it plug in ever since. Never experimented...

Cutting Chassis to Fit IEC Receptacle

About five years ago I did the modification to my CJ MF-2500A that had a capture cord. I simply removed the cord from the back panel, then traced the back side of the IEC socket and used a small three sided metal file to cut the open to the pattern I traced. Drilled two holes to secure the...

    Disaster srikes/blew amps in Summits

Stuwee, the amp that fried the internal amps was ( I toss it) was a CJ MF-80 CJ first solid state amp made back in the early 80's. Apparently what happen the amp sent ac current to the ML amps. It is interesting that ML has no internal fuse for protection from such mishaps. Perhaps they want...

    Disaster srikes/blew amps in Summits

I want to bring closur to this thread by saying that I got my amps back today, all four needed to be replace. I reinstalled them and I am back on line. ML really took care of me in a fair and timely matter. Communication was fantastic could not have ask for better service. Really gives me a lot...

    Disaster srikes/blew amps in Summits

That was an option, when originally I was going to box up the speakers and take them to the Magnolia store on Rosevelt. But when It was suggested by someone to have them "field tested" by removing the internal amps myself ML wanted me to send them out to them. I could have called Magnolia to see...

    Summit X midrange

Yes I would agree with you, I used to have my 2ch and home theater in the same room and found that the 2ch was greatly compromise. Which is why I moved the 2ch out of the house into another room. I understand that a lot people do not have the ability to have separate rooms. But you can greatly...

    Summit X midrange

I just want to chime in and say that what you are experiencing is your room not properly treated. I have my Summits (-x) in a dedicated room separate from my home. The first and second reflection points treated. The front wall treated with a combination of absorption and diffusion at 250 (...

    Disaster srikes/blew amps in Summits

Just an up date in getting my internal amps repair on my Summits; ML sent me instructions in removing them which I Fedx today for repairs. Great service very responsive and one happy customer for not having to box them up and send the speakers. Thanks again Gordon for the wonderful suggestion. Sam

    Disaster srikes/blew amps in Summits

I took off the back panel and there was no fuse to be found. Which is hard to believe considering there are two 250 watt amplifiers. I am thinking about seeing if ML will allow me to to send both of the back panels and have them repair the problem. That would be better then sending the speakers...

    Disaster srikes/blew amps in Summits

Ok Gordon I will call ML on Monday and see if we can isolate the problem and go from there. In the response to the other post regarding Rebecca Pidgeon being off center, well I listen to other vocals and the same problem was the same; This was after vacuuming the left panel. The interesting...

    Disaster srikes/blew amps in Summits

I did call ML on Friday and talk to service. Jim I think was his name he thought it sounded like it was the amps. Gordon what do you mean by "field repair"? I would assume that the repairs would not be cover under warranty. I am handy with a soldering gun. It sure would be nice not to send them...

    Disaster srikes/blew amps in Summits

What started out to be a much ancipated music session on a lovely Friday afternoon in the music room I notice when listening to Rebecka Pegon that her voice was right of center. Like most audiophile I immediately went into diagnose mode. Went through the audiophile approve process elimination...
