After that I got some phase tech 60s???
I've owned both versions of the Phase Tech PC 60: The first one with the 1 kHz crossover, circuit-breaker tweeter protection (one of them went through two tweeters anyway), and the tweeter level control that didn't do anything but make the treble...
Yeah, I can remember as far back as the '70s occasionally envying people with cheap compact stereos, huge record collections, and no knowledge of audio. (Not that I really knew that much myself.)
If it's at all feasible, I'd look for ways to jack up the TV and put the speaker under the TV. (My S.O. said she liked having TV a little higher as well.)
I don't know if it's applicable here, but generally speaking the back panel of a cabinet contributes to the cabinet's lateral stability. It might be something to keep in mind if it's holding heavy audio components.
Blu-ray Master and Commander, the end title track. Actually I'm recommending this less as a promise that it'll sound great than because I'm curious to hear what you think.
Yeah, no matter what you've got, that itch keeps coming back, doesn't it? :(
I too have a Dynamo -- my only ML speaker at present, actually. I like it fine for any music that doesn't contain cannon fire or very deep organ pedals. It can be overwhelmed by LFE in action movies -- my references...
As it turned out my ears might have been able to recalibrate the acoustics. There was definitely reinforcement, unevenly applied. The orchestra had a too-much-center-channel, too-much-500Hz-EQ sound. The harpsichord sometimes covered the singers' voices, and when I looked into the orchestra pit...
Going to hear The Marriage of Figaro performed by Mozart Festival Opera Company tonight. I hope to heaven it's natural acoustics, no sound reinforcement!
Thanks, very interesting. In fact, being intrigued by the configuration of Descent and Depth is a big part of my interest in ML. Maybe I'll try a DIY along those lines when the S.O.A.F. has recovered a bit from the Wooferwitz LFE 0.5 project and my carpentry skills get more refined.
I just looked through all the subwoofers I could find on the Paradigm website but didn't see the ones you're talking about. Did I miss something? :wtf:
I'll add my endorsement to the comments above about how lucky you are to have an audiophile wife. If I could change just one thing about my S.O. of 12 years, I'd make her an audiophile.
