cables...the biggest ripoff in audio.. although i did buy some 15 foot Audioquest Bedrock for around $200 on sale from Audio Advisor. Can't say they sound better than my Audio Magic cable or 14 guage zip wire, but they are more attractive.

Nice home Gordon...hope the MBLs work out, but if they don't, for less money than you paid, the new Maggie 3.7s may fit in your room. No need to vacuum, no need to plug to an outlet. May not be wife friendly, though.

usually both blinds are closed, but what room treatment would you recommend ? It sounds pretty good to me, but you're right, i wish the windows weren't located there, just drywall.

thx guys...i've read that 2 subs are best, but i hate having the extra box. I love the clean, uncluttered look of my system now and really don't want to load up my room with a bunch of speakers. I'm trying to justify just one subwoofer. That's why i figured i should go with one 12 incher...

I looked at that Velodyne SMS and read a review on it...it looked kind of complicated. I see the DD series does have the built in EQ. Is it normally best to buy a sub from the same manufacturer as your main speakers?

Take a look at soundocity.com....i just bought speaker stands from them for my Synchronies. They also have a related site for spikes and feet. You might find something there.

Haven't heard the Merlins but i traded down from pricier speakers to the PSB Synchrony Ones and am extremely pleased with them. Very musical with great resolution...haven't regretted the move once. I auditioned the Sonus Cremona M's and considered a mint condition used pair for about $7500...
