Hi, Tosh. The sound is dostorted/raspy, spanning the entire length of the panels, and does not change with pressure to either the front or back. Pianos, vocals, etc are especially irritating. I might add, the frame tension rods are tight and none of the black composite spanners are cracked -...

Yes, I've moved the Vantages to a completely separate system (Arcam avr600), yielding same distortion.

Yeah - I'm the one who picked up the black/silver i7 in Florida. :D Totally blind purchase (no local Simaudio dealers), with no regrets. Soundstage is incredible; fit and finish even more so. The massive volume knob alone is a work of art.

I've moved anywhere from 2-3 ft. from the back wall with notable improvements in soundstage/focus - yet midrange continues to lack. Keeping fingers crossed on upgraded wire ... perhaps the broader (lower mid) frequencies covered by the Spire's panel are revealing more of the Krell/source ...

Pardon the delayed response - spent an hour or so last night tinkering w/placement, doing A/B comparos w/the Vantages, etc. Wound up w/same results ... Vantages = warm; Spires not so much. Spoke to prev owner - claimed they'd be broken-in approx 80 hrs. Think I could limit everyone's...
