OK perhaps I should have put them in the same post... anyway, SERIOUS DRIVING FORCE...:)

The background poster maybe a bit of a giveaway...

Anyway... it's 1 AM in the morning here and I am knackered... so it's time for bed. I have photos of just about everything that was worth taking a photo of (in my humble opinion), and may post some more if there is any enthusiastic feedback... otherwise, I hope you have enjoyed the brief foray into Chinese Olympic Hi-Fi Pornography. It was the best I could do given the circumstances!

They ARE trying hard. They just HAVEN'T got a blinking CLUE what to listen too (yet!):)

Enjoy...

Justin

I like my Ascent/Descent better than I like the 2905 from what I have heard. But I'd like to take the 2905 for a PROPER RIDE. I don't think I know it that well...
This is very true !

Great photos, Justin.. Thanks for posting them... I've moved this to the "off topic Audio" section.

Get some sleep! :D

Tom.

OK - back on track - Vantage and Purity - as can be seen, MLs didn't feature strongly at the show. These chaps didn't make a connection...

The Spire's above sounded nice, but the volume was lowish... I was dying to crank them up a bit. Those Pass Labs amps sounded refined and very smooth....:)

These speakers need displayed with some kind of lighting behind them!

Love this post!!

I think we are all enthusiastic about this post. We are all audio lovers also I assume. I love seeing the TT pics I have the Clearaudio Limited Edition Champion, and at times I can't believe how great it sounds.

Quote David Matz: "Tough Work! Thanks for the pictures!

Did you get a chance to play any of your music? Or is the show not that user friendly?"

For some reason Quote isn't working on the hotel PC. Anyway, I didn't bring any disks. And I never feel comfortable with making people listen to my selection in a room full of people anyway...

Ouote now works! Hm...

Anyway, you are right, but MLs didn't really feature much at the show. I have read quotes from ML on these pages saying that high humidity environments do the panels no good. Well, humidity in HK is extremely high at the moment. Not the best place for them, I would say.

Yeah - I listen to CDs for weeks on end sometimes, then put some vinyl on, and literally put my head in my hands in shame over CD sound quality. What a move backwards! Then I put a duff or average vinyl pressing on, and I'm not quite so sure...

For my money, the sound quality of a well cut 12 inch 45 rpm record is amazing. Bass groove modulations can be astounding, which makes them great in clubs, and is why DJs like them so much, I guess.

When I get the chance, I'll pop a few more pics on. But I am on holiday at the mo, so it might have to wait for a few days...

Great pics! Please keep 'em coming!

I'm surprised they didn't allow you to play your own material. Was this show geared more to the trade rather than the consumer? That might explain it.

I am sure they would have done, sleepy, but I didn't ask... for reasons re-read my post...

Anyway, here's a few more pics... this time some Audio Note GakuOn 211 based monos and other AN stuff. The GakuOn was loaded with GE 211s - I prefer RCAs but hey... these are what I'd like to think my monos are the "equivalent" of, but these have an absolutely stella price tag...

I decided it would be mean not to post anymore pics...:)

The reason I was so tired yesterday was hi-fi show in the morning, plus cable car ride to see the Budha at Lantau Island, plus late night shopping in Monkok... hey this holiday - it's VERY tiring!!!

Here's some Vivid loudspeakers driven by Dartzeel amps. The big red ones were playing... sounded very good but as usual with any caged loudspeaker, you could hear the resonance of the fibreglass enclosures in their sound. Not bad - just different from wood. I could live with them (but NOT for long!) - and they look great.

I have to say there wasn't much hi-end equipment that was NEW ON THE MARKET in this show. Not much in the way of "premiers" so to speak...:(

I took a few movies which for obvious reasons I can't post - bit of a shame really because they portray the "feel" of the show...

Anyway, for you Sunfire users, firstly, why aren't you using Depths/Descents?, and secondly, here are a few nice pics, including inards... makes you realise how much "magnet" is required to throw woofer cones about.

That's it for tonight. But there's plenty more to come. Check back in a day or so...

Great Stuff 211, thanks for posting! Reminds me very much of my own posts on the RMAF the past few years. Great to have your eyes and ears there for us.

Have a great vacation - Hong Kong is an amazing place.

Oops, missed that line!

BTW, when I went to RMAF last year, I made my own demo CD with about 10 excerpts of well-known tracks. The entire CD was only 5 mins long, so I didn't abuse my listening time. It's very easy to do using Audacity...

Thanks MITT and sleepy. Sleepy - your idea would work well I am sure, but only in the smaller rooms with a few people in....

I can't get those little Neepers out of my head, so I have done a little research on them.

http://www.neeper-acoustics.com/

Created by a 28 year old Danish man, they DID sound awesome. There is a certain dipole element to them, due to the the 2 rear ports, so to some extent they sound a bit "Loganesque". They just use Scanspeak drivers, like a lot of other manufacturers... so why did they sound so good? The ultra-rigid wood cabinet and shape probably help... and the ultra high quality analogue source and amps... a brand to watch out for, for those with deep pockets!

Have to say they remain more in my mind than the Summit dem I had at my dealers a while back. I thought I'd check the price - $20,000 - CLX territory!:D

More pics later after today's excursions...

OK the show must go on, so to speak...

I have to say this isn't so much an informed selection of what actually was new at the show, more just pics of equipment I know and love, togther with stuff that just plain looks good / is cool.

This hotel is loaded with Aussies - HK must be one of the easiest holidays they can take, but talking to some yesterday, it is STILL a 7 hour flight! Anyway, they are drinking all the booze and partying all night:)

Familiar US ground coming up, and PLENTY of reason for Stateside viewers to be proud. AR awesomeness - CD7/REF3/REF210... and some Sonus Fabers....

As the Ramones once said "Well, I'm a Nazi baby, I'm a Nazi, yes I am. A Nazi sargent, gonna fight for the Fatherland". Deceased though most of them maybe, bless their rockin' CBGB souls, here's some NaziFi at it's finest. Enter Burmester... put your shades on before the chrome kills your retinas...
