Well. In light of current events, I thought I might rekindle the discussion.

Looks like DT could be / will be the Rep nominee.

What are your thoughts Kevin? And others interested in tis topic.

I must admit that I cannot see how the current "food fight" going on with the Rep nomination process can be helpful come November but maybe I am missing something?

'Food fight'. :). I love it. That is so true. Clown show....Juvenile would also fit. Jeez I have never seen so many dumbos on a stage. This is just a pendulum isn't it? The question becomes how THIS could be front and center. And frankly Hillary is no better. She fits right in. I've never seen anyone more uncomfortable in their own skin. And it's because she can never answer anything straight or from the heart. I don't think she has a heart quite frankly. Anytime any of these people get into some heat out comes the spin... Lies... Etc. what a joke. The problem with politics today is that one decision is just the first step for taking it another step further left or right. And that is why people argue about what appear to be innocuous requests from one party or the other.

As a citizen of Arizona, less than 90 minutes from the Mexican border, I'm voting for Trump! He's gonna build that wall tall and make Mexico pay for it, you folks think you're safe up in the northern plains and the northeast?? Think again brothers and sisters, the Cartel has plans for your 'hood!! Bloodbath comin'! And ISIS radicals next, you think Hillary or Bernie will stand up to anyone? Sadly mistaken my friends...All Muslim immigrants banned till they can be approved! Does that **** you off? Sorry, your family might die because you think they have a right to be in the USA!!

This is not the world a few years ago, times have changed, Trump will make America Great Again!!!

stuwee,

Appreciate your perspective but can you help me out?

How is he realistically going to build the wall and have Mexico pay for it? If Mexico doesn't pay for it, how will we pay for it?

How is he going to realistically round up and deport all the illegal immigrants and then create a process for reentry? What criteria would be used to allow for reentry?

How is he going to be able to realistically "identify" Muslim immigrants that pose a security issue to this country?

And after he implements this "banning" policy, what is he going to do to "figure out what is going on"?

Best,

Gordon

Stuwee,
if Trump gets into office, he won't do ANY of that shit that he's been spewing. He's saying that to get people riled up. He has NO political experience and will never get anything done. The Republican party can't even get a single respectable person to run. It's a joke.

Tom,

I would consider Kasich but he's going to be toast pretty soon.

Seems reasonable, down to earth and has chosen to refrain from the food fight.

And I loved Carson's line last Thursday, which just about sums it up.

When the "boys" were launching their attacks at each other, Ben said "would someone attack me".

GG

Yeah.. Kasich would be my candidate in the GOP, but he'll be out of it soon.. At least he makes sense.

The trump phenomenon is interesting. Everywhere I go I hear 'is this really happening'? Yet he keeps winning and I believe he will be the candidate. I hear this even from people that will vote for him. And from that I conclude only one thing. A trump vote is an antiobama vote. Trump is not politically correct. Trump is the definition of rich guy...big business. his actions wreak of spoiled pompous rich kid.

But I think people believe he has a different view of the world. That he is a deal maker. That he will figure a way to leverage our buying power in our favor. Yes - he gets ridiculous - but that's because he ISNT a politician. Sure he deals in politics in business ... But he isn't a politician. And the reason people like that ...and the reason he is here and doing well is because of the current administration. Back to my comment about the pendulum.

One more thing. I bet he picks Kasich as his running mate

I think Kasich and Hillary would be nearly identical in terms of impact. Hillary is a centrist through and through. She is only giving Bernie's talking points air time to help persuade his followers to vote for her if she gets the nomination. Kasich is also a moderate centrist. He might get more cooperation from congress, but I think congress is still leaning more left than he is.

I hate to say it but I actually like Sanders the best followed by Kasich but for very different reasons.

Sanders wants to shed the ties to big business driving the government and he seems to care about making the country a better place. I don't for a minute think he could get any of his social programs through congress. It just won't happen, but I think he will move the ball a little bit in the right direction.

Clinton will be same ole same ole. Kasich will be same ole same ole but with more cooperation from congress.

Chump will be devastating. He won't be able to accomplish anything, but will create a train wreck that we will be digging out of for years.

Just saw a piece on Trump that disproves almost every one of his talking points.

He has only put in $250K of his own money for this campaign. He has taken $7M in contributions and "loaned" himself $17M that he expects to be reimbursed for.

He has worked as a con artist and put his name against a number of real estate ventures where he had ZERO skin in the game, but was paid to stand behind the ventures to make them look secure. He wasn't building a thing, and countless other investors lost their shirts while he walked away with a pocketful. There is a pattern where people get screwed and he walks away with a pile of cash.

He has held opposing views on almost all the issues he is running on.

He considers his brand name "Trump" worth $3B of his net worth. His family name is actually Drumpf, but they changed it to something more impressive.

He is the consummate salesman who has learned to promote himself and sell a dream to unsuspecting people who get caught up in his sales pitch.

Mark, assuming all this is true I wonder why his opponents have not brought 'ALL' of this to light ??

Listen I think Trump is a horses ass phony like the majority on this forum and pray he does not get the nomination.

Actually he has been confronted about quite a number of issues. His typical response is to deny, make fun of, then make a face about it and his followers don't question him and eat his attitude up.

The "news" networks have utterly failed us and just keep giving him press and feeding the frenzy.

His followers are utterly loyal because they like his attitude.

This is one reason I don't think he can win a general election. The GOP is fragmented and I know a few republicans who have decided to sit this election out because they are so ****ed off at who the candidates are right now. The Dems and Independents are not blindly following him, and once more of these issues get air time, he simply can not get the majority he needs to win.

I hope you are correct, Mark. I read the other day that some algorithm, which has accurately predicted the last few elections, has predicted that he will be our next president.

I've seen conflicting articles that state Don or Bernie will win according to reliable algorithms.

Good luck with Sanders, Mark. You won't be able to purchase anything when you make .09 an hour as Socialist China citizens do.

LOL! Be serious. Bernie won't be able to pass squat through that congress.

He might be able to slightly move the ball on a few social programs but that will be the limit of how far he can go. There will need to be a substantial turnover in congress for him to make any real headway.

Then why would he be your choice for President?

Because I think he would move the ball ever so slightly in the right direction and start some dialogs that need to happen.

I don't see him being in office more than one term if he were to win, so I think he might set things up for the next guy (Republican or Democrat) if that makes any sense.

I read a very interesting comment by very liberal life long Democrat.

He was actually complaining about the fractured GOP and talking about how it was destroying our two party system and making it so that a Republican could never win a presidential election.

His big concern was that the Democratic party would become to be the only viable party left and start to sweep up congressional and senate seats as well as the presidency and start to run unchecked.

The far right has been pulling the whole GOP field of candidates so far that they are alienating a large number of republicans who have been voting along party lines for ANYTHING BUT THE DEMOCRAT for many years now vs. actually wanting the Republican candidate on that candidate's merits.

I'm hearing a bunch of former Republicans giving up. They don't want the Democrats in power, but they don't like their options. Some are planning to begrudgingly vote Republican to stop a Democrat from winning, but others are changing their affiliation to independent.

It is a weird time in this country. I saw this recently which was also interesting.

Mark,

I think the real tragedy here is that the Rep race for President has turned into a literal "food fight".

Unfortunately, I can't watch their debates anymore. There is rarely any substance.

Best one liner from the previous debate goes to the now defunct Doctor when insults were flying back and forth and he said "would someone please insult me" so he could get some air time.

One of the best zingers last night was a follow up to Rubio's claim that the DON has small hands. Not sure why that was relevant but the DON, not to be undone, said words to the effect that "there were no issues regarding the size of his penis".

That about says it all folks. :rocker:
