It's not a speaker is it? Kind of looks like something Bob Carver would come up with if he lived a hundred years ago. :D

Here is the automated babelfish.altavista.com translation. It appears to be a sound analyzer or demonstrator for harmonics. I'd love to know what the rotating mirror does - note the crank at the bottom-left.

Analyzer of sounds of König

The sounds produced from the vibration of ropes, tubes and other instruments are not never simple. Famous the fundamental one always is accompanied from notes of smaller intensity, in simple relationships with before, said harmonic sounds. The apparatus devised and realized from the German physicist Karl Rudolph König (1832-1901) servants just to evidence the members more important than a data sound. Analyzing a sound through this apparatus it can be stated like a same fundamental note, played from various instruments, is accompanied from somewhat various harmonic sounds between of they.

Cool, thanks for the research guys.

If I ever find one of these, I'm buying it.

Guess I'll have to move that semi-worthless subwoofer of mine out of the corner to make room for one. ;)
