I'm a little unclear on the specs of your preamp. Have you updated the AVM50 and the BDPS1? With that combo are you able to listen to Dolby TureHD?

With specific regard to my system's ability to output Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus:

The AVM-50 has 4 HDMI inputs that accept up to 5.1 multi-channel PCM

The Sony BDP-S1 is currently running firmware Ver. 3.6. Many months ago (I believe Ver. 2.0) a firmware update enabled the Blu-ray player to decode the high-res audio formats internally.

So, the BDP-S1 decodes the Dolby TrueHD or DD+ audio tracks and converts them to Multi-channel PCM and that is sent to the AVM-50 via HDMI.

HDMI 1.3 is not needed if the player can decode the formats.

Thanks for the info! That's the vibe I was getting as I read through the specs. I just wanted to confirm with someone that actually had one.
