I currently have 2 Odysseys for front sides, one Cinema center, and 4 Theater speakers for my home entertainment room. Yes, I set this all up 18 years ago. There were reasons for using the Theater speakers instead of customary side and rear surrounds based on wall issues. I also have a subwoofer as well as one enormous amp and one smaller amp to run the surrounds. We are moving within a month or two to a vastly different space. Whereas I have a cathedral ceiling now, I will have a huge room with a ceiling that is at least 20 feet in height in the new place. There is no possibility of rear speakers because of the rear wall is glass and is 35 feet from the wall on which the Sony OLED 65" TV will be mounted with the front speakers alongside (actually, they are a bit too bit for the space). The room is filled with both windows and clerestory windows on one side. There are side walls - the room is 16 feet wide, but the actual theater/music seating area for films is about 14' x 14'. However, of course, I want the sound to fill the room.

Obviously, I cannot use the 4 Theater speakers. I've tried to study the Martin Logan products page, but don't see anything that looks logical. Given that the new place has concrete exterior walls, this raises an issue with mounting one of the sides or, heaven forbid, the ceiling. We have loved our current set up and are sold on electrostatic sound reproduction. However, I am stumped as to what to get for the best sound without bankrupting us. I don't want to go into audio places here in Houston without some idea of what might work/sound great. Can anybody offer some suggestions?

Leslie

Welcome to the forum Leslie,
It sounds like you have 2 vastly different spaces to be in. You appear to be committed to HT and your Theater speakers for side and rear so have you thought about making stands for the Theater speakers?
Since you will need to have them somewhat at your average hearing height I think you could have something built to be stable and not look totally out of place. Will the stands be large? Yes, but, I think with a bit of thought you can come up with a design that will fit into your room.

Let us know what you decide.

I will not even consider stands for the side speakers. Nor am I interested in re-using any of my four Theater speakers. What I want are side replacements that can mount on a concrete wall and work well with the mains (which may also have to be replaced because they are too large for the space available). Currently, the Theater speakers are definitely not at ear height . . . they are mounted at least at a height of roughly 10' because of the room's design, but they were mounted facing downward. I had professional, certified A/V sound specialists dial in the sound (6 mikes and a laptop, etc. to do it).

What I'm looking for is a recommendation for wall-mounted side speakers to replace the Theater sides. I fear I will have to give up on rear speakers because there is no place to install them and I will not have speakers on stands in this space. 'Tis a pity, but there you are.

You should look at the new speakers ML is coming out with.

I have heard they will be available early next year.
