my best friend just passed away and his wife asked me to sell these for her. we had to move her and her 2 babies out of her current home and didnt have space for these. I am somewhat into home theater, but I dont have a need. They were moved by the movers into my garage the other day. they are in very good shape and were used just 2 months ago. I honestly didnt wipe them off before picturing, but no flaws to note honestly. shocked how nice they are for32 years old I do also have a silver box not pictured, I think it is a crossover. located in Cleveland ohio if anyone has interest. Appreciate any advice on their value.

Nice gear, if the silver box is ML branded and says 'Exos' somewhere on it, then you have a pair of Monolith IIIx, and that box is the active crossover required to make them work. Buyer will need two amps, one for the panels and one for the woofer sections.

Not many had the factory active crossover.

The XO box you have is a “passive” XO, and of course, you need Two of them…

Thanks for the pics, as they confirm that what you have is NOT an IIIx, but rather the more common IIIp model of the Monolith.

Hopefully, you have both of them, as one box is needed per speaker.

Without a pair, then the buyer will be forced to go active (a good thing, but more complex).

That's not a big deal. They're probably due for a refinish anyway, Parts-Express sells some stretch speaker cloth. A few bucks and some small effort to replace.

Even the small scratch on the front of the unit is just cosmetic and probably easily repaired.

While I do not have time ATM, if you have not moved these in a few months, please let me know. I live in North GA, and would drive and do an in-person pickup.

i have a pair of these for the fronts. I dont think the rears had them though. i dont know much about these. Anyone have a clue what all 4 speakers and the 2 crossovers are worth?

OK, good, so an intact IIIp setup.

The ReQuests crossovers are internal, so you have a functional set of ReQuests as well.

As for value, the Monoliths are from September 1997 and, I'm guessing, are still on the original panels. If so, then the value is around $1K to $1,500, as the purchaser is going to face the cost of new panels soon ($2,800).
A IIIp set with three-year-old panels, Goldwood woofers and tweaked passive XO, just sold for $1K (which was a very good deal for the buyer).

The ReQuests are in the same quandary as they are from August 1993, with 29 year-old panels. So at most $800.

Now, the panels might have been updated, so please post a picture of the serial number from one of the Monoliths and one of the ReQuests. The serials are small labels, usually at the top-right rear of the panel. So you need to look at them from behind.

Maybe his wife will know if he replaced the panels, but finding the serial number is what you need to do. We have a serial number decoder here on this site that is posted and plenty of guys that can decode it for you if you find them. The speakers have a serial number and then the panels themselves have their own too.

i found both of these. any idea of value for all 4 speakers and crossovers? woofers havent been replaced, but I know the speakers worked before my friend passed.

Spoke to Russ, he said he rebuilds, but doesnt buy typically. may have interest in the rears. we spoke on the phone over an hour, great guy. He owned a chain of stores and retired at 48. he said they were about 7k a pair new for the fronts not counting crossovers and the rears were 4300 new. He said nowadays they are probably worth 1500-2500 a pair for the rears and 1500-3000 for the fronts, with xovers. he said 1k a pair is giving them away. Does this sound right? super nice guy. I think my friend paid 14k from the owner of audio vision store around us back then.

You must have an audiophile store in the Cleveland area. We have one here in Cincinnati where customers can bring in equipment and they sell it for you. The items get listed on Ebay and are on display in the store too. I've sold a few things that way. They take care of everything for the customers. I just dropped the stuff off and the store ships it, lists it, etc. Some things are indeed pick up there only and no shipping.

I bet you have at least one store in your area that does it. The store gets a good chunk of the sale price, but it's worth it to me. Have you searched around the Cleveland area?

I havent looked. I have 12000 items on ebay, I have workers that can list them, just figured this place would be a better bet.
