Hi,
There is currently an eBay auction I believe is a scam. You can view it here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7182160506&fromMakeTrack=true

It uses the EXACT same description (even mispellings) and photos as an earlier listing here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5805308798&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1

The new listing has an unrealistically low price, the sellers feedback is virtually zilch, and he wants you to contact him outside of eBay...he states his eBay email is not working...all earmarks of fraud.

Finally, the seller is listing LOTS more high end items for unrealistically low amounts, all with the same stipulations as the ML speakers, you can see them here:

Take care,
Peter

Nice catch Peter.

Both auctions look the same but the locations are different on both. San Jose, California and North Dakota.

You should report it to Ebay with both auction links.

I've already done that...:)

Peter

Edit: The listings by that seller have been removed, less than an hour after I reported him...on a Saturday...better than I would have expected from eBay.

I've also seen this Ascent listing both times and shook my head when I saw it.

Looks like ebay's already removed all of this persons listings.

Another one...

I found a similar one...many of the items for sale are the same. I suspect it is the same person, but now the auctions are 1 day instead of 3 day...maybe he's trying to get his money before he gets reported, and all the items get removed. I've reported him, and the auctions will likely be gone soon.

The one I found is here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Velodyne-DD-15-...999711100QQcategoryZ40151QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The other items listed by this seller are here:

Take care,
Peter

It seems as if the consumer electronics categories on ebay are running amok with scams. They all seem to follow the same trends.....no email link, no feedback or membership history, short auction durations, bank transfers only, private feedback, rediculously low shipping quotes, and most of all....the pricing is not on par with the item being sold.
Last year I purchased three Krell 250m's from a fellow on Audiogon. He had a nice text description of the equipment and several photos of the amps installed in his audio room. Wouldnt you know it, searching for 'Krell' on ebay I've come across those same photos twice so far.

I thought the part of the title about the "Erotic Finish" would be a dead giveaway!

Yes, I saw that a while back. I am wondering where I can get an erotic finish?? Maybe I can laminate magazine pages on there somehow. :)

Here is another recent eBay ad, apparently a woofer is blown on one of the speakers (no models are listed, looks like a Theater, a Depth, and some Ascents) however, it still sounds the same??
