Tim (MiTT) don't forget to take your pornograph to the show.
Not a problem Bernard, I'm planning my usual multi-page thread of it with plenty of pictures. This will be my 5th consecutive year attending and covering it here on the site. I'm excited to be there!

(unfortunately I have a meeting that runs until 12:30 and I have to come back to the office tonight - so I may not have much posted immediately)

Hey Amigos,

Great dinner at Lola's last night.

Just got back in the homeland.

Will post my observations, without pictures, soon.

Thank you Tim for arranging dinner at Lolas.

Tres magnifique.

Twitch, hope your wife is doing better. As for you, what can I say. :D

GR Research V1

Hi Jason,

If you are talking about the GR Research V1, I did a brief listen to the V1 "Plus", which apparently has an improved tweeter over the V1.

I asked the rep about the price and he said they were $2,495. I stared at him in disbelief.

Room was small and very crowded when I heard them. I was off to the side and somewhat in the back with several folks between me and the speakers.

Having said that, there were very impressive and for the price. Very dynamic and life like in a relatively small package. Also quite attractive. First impressions. A silly, stupid bargain, or shall I say a steal at the price and a product I would want to have a serious listen to, given the opportunity.

Thank you. Yes, they are a kit that's why they are less then you would think...

I'm finishing the xover on my current DIY speakers then I think I will build them. IF you come to NC, you can listen all you want.

Were you able to do it?
Yes. I thought they were pretty nice, but I wasn't extremely impressed. Maybe it was because I had listened to so many systems that I was subconciously comparing them to much higher priced speakers. The music that I heard through them seemed very clear, but the sound came from the dead center and there didn't seem to be any width to the soundstage. Worth the asking price? Sure. But for me, the ADAM's are a better buy. I will check my notes, to be sure I'm commenting on what I heard, but they're currently packed up in my car and I don't want to dig them out until I get home. If I have any more info, I'll update.
UPDATE. Ok, I arrived home about 30 minutes ago and have found my notes on the V1. Here's what my notes say... The V1 playing was the "Super V", powered by a Dodd Audio 15wpc amp. The room was very well treated, with diffusers and absorption covering the entire front wall. The sound was very clean and accurate to my ears. Playing Jack Johnson, I notice that his voice sounds mellower than on my system. I don't know which is the more accurate, having never heard him live. The presentation seemed a little small. The speakers were ~ 5ft. apart, ~ 20" from the side walls and ~ 2' from the front wall. I sat about 6' in front of them.
