I have owned from new (1992) a set of Monolith IIIP's through Threshold SA1's, and recently had one panel lose volume. By a process of elimination, swapping amps, swapping speaker internal electronics, preamp etc. it pinpoints one of the ESL panels. If I crank the preamp balance control over the faulty panel doesn't sound sonically that different, although sensitivity and highs are definitely down. Martin Logan have quoted an astronomical price for two replacement panels so before I go down that path I was wondering if a thorough clean would help. Does anyone have details as to how to remove the panels. Is it a case of pushing one of the edges of the panel from the rear until they pop out of the groove they appear to be in.
thanks and regards....Brian
