And yes, I use high-end computer based playback of all my RedBook CD content (which is ripped to .WAV on a 2TB media server).

That was a while ago are you still using the same software and cd rom or have you found something new?. What are your thoughts on flac?

Yep, same software (well version 0.9 of Foobar now). Same ripping rig.
Works very well, so no need to change.

Flac is great. Any lossless format is preferable to a compressed format and you still get the same advantages of Metadata (such as album /artist info) embedded in it.
