Hey all,
I saw Elton John perform at the HP Pavillion in San Jose on Saturday night.
I didn't know what to expect. Show started at 8:10 and went on until nearly 11PM. No opening act. He opened with "Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" which is my all time favorite Elton John song and did nearly ALL of his hits and some material from his upcoming CD "The Captain and the Kid" which is a sequel to 1975's "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy".
He talked to the audience between songs quite a bit, explaining new songs and what they meant as well as thanking us for supporting him and his music through the years, which I thought was very classy.
Tickets were $100+, but IMHO, worth every penny. If you get the chance to see him live, even if you're not a huge fan, DO IT! He's incredible!
Every time I see a live concert, I mentally rank them, which brings me to my question, "Rank your concert experiences and post them".
Here's mine:
1. The Who - Rosemont Horizon, Chicago.. Early 80's. Their "Farewell tour"
2. Elton John - Saturday night - HP Pavillion - San Jose
3. Joe Jackson - San Diego State Amphitheater - Late 80's
4. Journey - Shoreline Amphitheater, Mountain View CA - about 3 years ago. First tour with Steve Perry clone..
5. Keane - Great American Music Hall, San Francisco, Summer 2006
6. Days Of The New - Great American Music Hall, San Francisco - 2002?
7. Rush - Alpine Valley Ampitheater, East Troy, WI - late 70's
8. Billy Joel - "Glass Houses Tour" - Mecca Arena, Milwaukee WI
That's all I can think of right now...
Post yours!
