If really serious about audio then one does not use Creative products. I'd recommend the M-Audio Audiophile as a much better device that fully supports ASIO interfaces.
Another option if doing analog out of the sound card is the new X-Meridian from Auzentech. This puppy even does DTS Encoding so you can feed a multichannel signal to your processor at a full 1.5Mbps rate from DVD, WM-HD or games.
Even the DAC's are very high-quality.
I use a TerraTec Aureon soundcard. They have recieved much praise in europe for their processing and overall quality. They are not the easiest to find but are one of the best buys out there
