Cool. One can also achieve this today if using a PC based playback device
Using Fobar2000, the concolver plug-in will reshape the output based on the measured impulse response of the room.
While it works, there are a few caveats:
- Getting an accurate impulse response is critical.
- Using just one impulse measurement is a bad idea (only that location will sound decent, everywhere is it will get worse)
- Must use multiple measurements, then create a weighted average of them to feed the convolver
- Finicky performance
In the end, using my speaker processors, I achieve the correct EQ for the speakers and the room that the added complexity of the FB2K convolver is just not worth it.
But this a great solution for SB3 players in other rooms with less complex speaker setups. Any room / system will benefit from well done correction.
