At the In-Laws

My In-Laws house is always interesting, my wife's mom teaches music out of the home. Her father builds and restores musical instruments, rifles and other odd items.

I had the opportunity to listen to a restored Edison Cylinder playing machine.

Off axis tin-like, on axis is harder to explain. You can't call it a sound stage, more like a marching band coming towards you.

Oh, yea - some critter was staring at me while I tried to eat supper, a freaky but cool place.

What an interesting, Edison Cylinder player... What year was it produced? 1890?

It could be 1902 or later, I'm not sure.

Guess I'll have to get more information next time I'm there.

These cylinder holders are in great shape, don't know when they were last made.

Yes, the mark of excellence,... Edison and his hard working colleagues, were one of the first, in their field. I just love, the history, of early electronics. I'm a history buff. I'll admit it... By-the-way, another great close-up photo...
