My In-Laws house is always interesting, my wife's mom teaches music out of the home. Her father builds and restores musical instruments, rifles and other odd items.

I had the opportunity to listen to a restored Edison Cylinder playing machine.

Off axis tin-like, on axis is harder to explain. You can't call it a sound stage, more like a marching band coming towards you.

Oh, yea - some critter was staring at me while I tried to eat supper, a freaky but cool place.

Interesting old player...

Kach22i,

What an interesting, Edison Cylinder player... What year was it produced? 1890?

Cheers

-Robin

It could be 1902 or later, I'm not sure.

See picture.

I can't read a thing off this plate, can you?

I see "USA" and a few random numbers.

Guess I'll have to get more information next time I'm there.

These cylinder holders are in great shape, don't know when they were last made.

1902... cool

kach22i,

Your digital camara must be a good one. Your photo's are really very clear, generally... Thanks for the additional photo's of the Edison Cylinder player. :)

Cheers

The Mark of Excellence...

kach22i,

Yes, the mark of excellence,... Edison and his hard working colleagues, were one of the first, in their field. I just love, the history, of early electronics. I'm a history buff. I'll admit it... By-the-way, another great close-up photo... :D

Thanks again, kach22i

Cheers

-Robin

If I were you, I'd five finger discount that from my in-laws and take that over to the Antique Roadshow. :D

Ah...I'm talking about the Edison thingy not your new friend.
