    Martin Logan vs. Other Speakers

Hello, the french listener again. I read your thread and agree with some points of view concerning Martin Logan ESL. I got Request, then Prodigies which I liked very much except the bass, too boomy and slow. Everybody knows that point. To day, I am breaking in new Renaissance 15A, I thought they...

What do you mean "too thick" ? That's a problem if new replacement pannels are not exactly the same as the old ones ! You will have problems to place them in the frame, with previous holes for the screws. New ESL's will not change the bass of your Prodigies, but they will give a new and more...

I did not told you that Prodigies do not need ARC... They have not ! Only the new models 11A, 13A and 15A with active numeric amp in bass are equiped with ARC. Not the old ones. I did not want to sell my Prodigies to unknown person so I gave them to my brother ; but he has no place to put them...

the Renaissance and Neolith. CLX are quiet old now, difficult to make them sound great, so is there a new speaker to come from Martin Logan ? Do not hope any change in the bass performance of Prodigies, this is because the choice of Scanspeaks woofers and capacitors by Martin Logan... Look the...

I tried to improove the bass of my old Prodigies but I never succeeded. Changing and experimenting different capacitors in the filter for exemple... I got better articulation and dynamic with the woofers but... these modifications changed the global presentatation of the Prodigy and spoiled the...

Very different indeed. The old Prodigy sounded like a big electrostatic headphone, very smooth and silky. Big sound but very bad bass, not tight, very boomy. Everybody knows that it was a pity ! The new ESL15 are a huge improvement in this part of frequencies, the sound is more articulated on...

    Missing bass punch on Quest?

As I told you I spent much times to try many other capacitors, no one gives you the same sound for the same value ! And bass will come too present. So I came back to original ERSE capacitors. Do not imagine anything about the crossovers.. I give you there Request and prodigy shematic dia

    ESL15A Break in

Thanks but I am talking about sweetness and silky in MEDIUM of the new pannels ESL15A vs the old ones Prodigy. Not bass or Soundstage... Yes Parisian lofts in Paris are smaller than some in US. And when we think about japonese room size in Tokyo !!! Hi, hi...

Reviews - what can be trusted?

I have written some feedback around that you are talking about... I had Request, then Prodigy and now ESL15A. The presentataion is not the same with these new microperf stators, I noticed that at the moment ML launched Summits. More speed, more resolution, a tighted bass but the timbre in medium...

    Annoying Pilot Lights

I think the new Martin Logan ESL15A white light is not as sophiticated than the blue logo ML on Prodigy. So I placed a blue tape along it at the bottom f the ESL 15A speaker... What do you think about it ?

    ESL15A Break in

Hello, first thank you all for reply, I appreciate ! I got an answer from Martin Logan too ; about the new micro perf generation speakers... This gives, from Summit launch, a new approach or presentation, more accurate and fast, better everywhere as we can imagine from a manufacter... but what...

    ESL15A Break in

Hello friends, I apologize first for my poor english, I am french and live n Paris... I am found of ML speakers for a long time, Request, Prodigy and now ESL15A. I had always appreciated the silky and smooth medium, the magical resolution and 3D from the ESL pannels but angry with the bass...

    reQuest Crossover capacitor upgrade

YES... I did it on my Prodigy : looking for better capacitors. But which part of the crossover are you talking about ? The worse on these speakers is the bass unit, HP driver and 12dB crossover, this part is not as good as the ESL..., every body agree. Bass crossover is in the tray in front of...

    Missing bass punch on Quest?

OK, I agree about the "bass punch" lacking on Quest Z or Request or Prodigy. I made a lot of tests about the crossover and tried to find better capacitors. I spent time and much money replacing chimical capacitos by Mundorf MKP capacitors, even 330uF value as big as a Coke can and very...

    ESL 15A vs CLX ART+sub ?

Thank you so much all of you for your answers. That is clear that the CLX sings in an other league, the best one, upper class, like a full range speaker and not any hybride speaker can compete with it. The ESL 15A is good, much better than my Prodigy, active and ARC, but it is not what I read in...

    ESL 15A vs CLX ART+sub ?

I have been living with Prodigy for 10 years, I love them for resolution, magic presentation of the ESL but I hate them for the bass reproduction specially in a small room. Too boomy, too much bass and not tight enough, that's a pity. So it is time to change now. I have been dreaming about a...

    Prodigy V's Request

The Renaissance 15A is a better Prodigy, especialy because the active 500W included dual bass woofer ! And with ARC it a more easy speaker to drive in a moderate room than the Prodigy.

    Prodigy V's Request

YES, I had both, Request and The Prodigy now... and the next one for me will be Renaissance 15A. Prodigy is a high class model with dual force boomers, but still the worst part of this speakers. The bass is a little bit better than Request but still booming, not a world class bass ! The best on...
