    MiTT's 2011 RMAF Show Report

That machine is playing 1/2-inch demo versions of the Tape Project releases. Those who have heard it say the playback is premium stuff. Great coverage, thanks! Tj

    Gas Prices

Justin- The problem with gas prices here in the states is that gasoline should be a relatively inexpensive commodity, given our abundant domestic oil supply and large infrastructure to import/transport what we cannot pump out of the ground ourselves. The reality is that there is a...

    What a mess !!!

I liked the column, but he talks as if a change in voting policies would have fixed any of this mess. I am disgusted with almost every facet of our political system, to the point where it seems it is broken and cannot be fixed. Not from the current political gene pool anyways. Good read...

Scalford 2011 - An Owner System Hi-Fi Show

Justin- My 304TL transmitter-class amplifier has about 180 hours on it in the current configuration; with the exception of bumping the operating point around a bit I am enthusiastic about the design. The 304TL is an excellent output tube, built like a tank. Circuit boards are being made up...

Scalford 2011 - An Owner System Hi-Fi Show

Justin- The specs on the NAT Magma and Transmitter are almost unbelievable, at least on paper. 160 watts single-ended 10 Hz to 100KHz for the Magma, 120 watts single-ended 8 Hz to 100KHz for the Transmitter. Power supplies including output are regulated. All this while consuming only 450 VA...

Scalford 2011 - An Owner System Hi-Fi Show

Good job on the videos. I found them not from this thread but while researching information on NAT products. BTW, if you ever come across one of the NAT transmitter-class amplifiers and have a voltmeter in hand, I'd love to figure out the OP for those. Neither the OPTs or power supply sections...

    bridged amps and external crossovers

Never heard of the crossover thing, but be careful about the load (impedance) you are running into when bridging amplifiers. Each amp sees half of the normal unbridged load, or puts out twice the current, which ever way you prefer to look at it. Tj

HDMI Handshake solution - Gefen HDMI Detective Plus

Does the upconversion to 24/88.2 offer any performance you can actually hear or is it just convenient to use them in the oppo? Tj

2 channel dedicated listening room size...

At 5700 sq ft, the little things like window treatments, rugs, decorating etc, really burn up the budget. Can't figure it out....my wife spent more on curtains/blinds than I would have on a a pair of CLX's, but somehow we 'needed' the curtains. Go figure.... Tj

2 channel dedicated listening room size...

If it were me; I'd pull rank and take over the library  That's almost enough to go Lavigne-room. When our home was nearing completion, I had plans of using the basement for an audio-room build, but our post-construction budget would not allow that project for a while. I had the...

Have you ever heard a digital recording meet or exceed an analog recording?

Anyone here download from HDTracks? Some of their 96/24 offerings sound fantastic. Not on my ML setup though, as my digital front end wont play a DVD-A disc :( Not sure what to do about that. CAP, help me out (another Krell KPS25s guy). Tj

    Software recommendation for DAW..?

Wavelab, I think they're up to 7 now, seems to be the recommended program for audio editing. Thanks for the info..... There is much to be learned if you want to delve into digital mastering. Cool stuff. BTW...PC it is. Tj

Have you ever heard a digital recording meet or exceed an analog recording?

Are all of the HRx discs new recordings done in the digital realm, or are some of them re-mastered from older analog media? Tj

    Biwire versus high quality jumpers

I bi-wire Atma-Sphere MA1's into Requests using SignalCable and it made a huge difference over the stock clips, but I don't exactly know why. Electrostatic speakers are usually a difficult load for OTL amplifiers and I suspect that with bi-wiring, one of the two current paths (the woofer) helps...

What not to do while texting....

That video is a reminder that our society is made up in large part of people who just don't know how to act. While it may be funny, in a public place you have an obligation to act in a way so as to not impede on the rights of others. She made a choice, and the only one who got (supposedly) hurt...

    Software recommendation for DAW..?

Does anyone on this forum use their computer to manage and/or edit their digital audio files? In the past, I used to make my own RTR tapes, which were compiled from my favorite consumer/pre-recorded tapes and vinyl. This was a fairly easy process of finding the best level to run the...
