    ESL15As into a PS Audio P20

Thanks Leporello. I do get very good sound quality on weekday nights, even with the low level hum. The sound quality at weekends isn't so good, more people at home, doing more people things, more rubbish on the power lines - I'm guessing. The hum was only introduced (or perhaps exposed) when I...

    ESL15As into a PS Audio P20

Thanks muchly TiBoneFramer. That's a relief! I've read all about the Puritans, they appear to be very good value for money compared to the PS Audio, but those that have used both seem to point to the P20 being better sound quality. Would be interested to hear your opinion on SQ.

    ESL15As into a PS Audio P20

Greetings! I am going to purchase, or at least trial, a PS Audio P20 Power regenerator. I believe I am receiving a variable quality power supply, I’m definitely getting a little low level hum. Mid-week evenings, my ESL 15A speakered system sounds fantastic, and at other times it just isn’t...

On my 2nd replacement amp tray. About 10 hours of listening done. No drop outs! Whoo Hoo! Huge thanks to all here, who have helped with suggestions and valuble knowledge. Also got the Arc calibration done, a very different sound coming from the speakers, much calmer but perhaps a lacking a...

Quick update. I had a new amp tray delivered. Taking out the old one was pretty straight forward. Disconnect speaker from power and amp. Place on its side but elevated from the floor (I used one of the polystyrene shippers) Place something to rest the tray on at the bottom of the speaker Take...

Thanks guys. Unfortunately my only spare amp is faulty. The entire speaker goes very quiet, woofer as well. I have been in touch with the shop and they have been in touch with PMC (the Martin Logan UK distributor). PMC initials thoughts are a faulty board in the speaker amp tray. Likely...

I have swapped speaker cables. I have swapped speaker power cables. The speaker with the dop outs, I tried the shipped power cord with a plug adaptor. I have tried listening at much lower volume levels. Unfortunately, the drop out issue remains. Yesterday, I swapped the ESLs for some old...

Thanks for your continued suggestions and interest guys, I really appreciate it. Tonight I swapped the speaker cables for some old Van der Huls that I found in the archives. The drop out issue remains. Tomorrow I will change the fuses in the speaker power cables and I have also found a spare...

Yeah the age of the Krell is a worry in these circumstances, but there were no issues at all with the Sequels IIs nor a pair of Rega box speakers. My gut is saying I have a faulty ESL but more evidence is needed.

I used some spare roofing battens to cobble together a pair of square frames to prop against the front wall. I then draped some blankets and hung up a couple of foot mats as well. That has calmed things down a lot, but yes I think absorption panels are in my near future. Last night I just laid...

I believe the UK is unique in it's use of fuses in plugs. The ESL15 power cords came with US style 2 pin round plugs which won't fit the 3-slot oblong shaped UK wall sockets. So I just re-used the Sequel II power cables that I have had for decades. They are fitted with 3-amp fuses, I can't...

Hello All, After wresting with the biggest boxes I have ever had delivered and several bruises and scrapes later (I set them up single handed), the mighty ESL15s are now in situ. I could not get them the requisite 24 inches from the front wall but they are 20 inches, so not bad. They are 24...

Hello All - thanks so much for all your replies, I have read them all and appreciate them. JonFo, jmcmillanmisc - thanks for those ideas. However, I have zero confidence in myself perfoming tweaks, I can change a plug and a few simple electric fittings like ovens and what not but the thought of...

Greetings from Essex UK, this is my first post, hope I am not transgressing any etiquettes by going straight into a question! I’ve had my Sequel IIs for 32 years but for various reasons they have had only around 7 years of use. I’ve got the Nextel rot but fortunately it’s the dry kind and...
