Greetings from the Great White North!

Welcome to the club Dave, from another Ottawan! Were those first electrostatics you heard perhaps Dayton-Wrights? My system (#214 in the Members’ Systems section) is not as upscale as yours, with Hana/VPI for analog, and Mac Mini/PS Audio for digital. Amplification is all-tube vintage Audio...

    Whatever happened to Joey V.?

Yes, but forgive me for interrupting you. You were probably busy posting pictures of your system 😝

    Whatever happened to Joey V.?

Funny, but I just signed-on to Facebook and was notified that today is Joey’s birthday, so I left him birthday wishes, and let him know that he was missed here by one of the colorful characters here.

    ARC to be liquidated ??

The announcement includes the statement “Trent Suggs was relieved of control of Audio Research”, so it sounds like big issues.

    reason why

It’s working for now, but I may well have to replace it. If I do, it will be with a stepped attenuator, which is now an even more expensive proposition.

    reason why

Update: The problem yesterday with my sound system dying was the balance control acting up. I rotated it a few times, and all‘s well now. I replaced the volume control with a stepped attenuator many years ago, and got a huge improvement in sound. I reported that on an Internet forum and in...

    reason why

Khenegar, I know EXACTLY what you’re going through. In 2008 I was diagnosed with a rare, incurable autoimmune muscle disease, and almost died. I later found out that my doctor expected me to be dead in one year; I’m still around, thanks to good drugs. Then in 2017 the muscle problem hit my...

Just wanting to express my viewpoint

MLs are actually made in Ontario (Mississauga, I think).

    ESL no sound

Check if the panel has slipped down. This is a common cause for no sound from the electrostatic part, while there is sound from the woofer. Contact ML service. They will tell you how to fix the problem (no-cost, if my diagnosis is right.)

Best US Site to Sell Used Audio Equipment?

I saw a DAC I wanted on Canuckaudiomart. There was no box, manual, or power cord. The seller wanted local pickup in Niagara Falls, and cash; his feedback was 100%. A friend of mine in Niagara agreed to pick it up for me. The seller and I agreed on a price. I emailed the seller my friend’s...

CLX owners and CLX lovers I need your help deciding what to do with a pair I jreceived.

I agree. When I went home after listening to Roberto’s mighty CLX system, I was not at all dissatisfied with my long-in-the-tooth SL3s. I almost feel sorry for people like Dave who have turned their backs on Martin Logan! 😛

CLX owners and CLX lovers I need your help deciding what to do with a pair I jreceived.

Dave, I’ve heard them twice, for several hours each time, in Roberto’s relatively small room, and each time they sounded wonderful. Go for it! Hola Roberto!

New ML Summit owner saying Hi.

Welcome Lurch! Former Quad ESL 57 owner here. Loved the sound, but they didn’t really work in my (then) small room. I now have SL3s, and in a larger room, where they work great, albeit they are now long in the tooth. Reverend Moon, check your PM.😳

    Renaissance 15A Keep Going Quiet

On another site recently a guy was pleased that he was able to listen at concert levels, and had a picture of an SPL meter registering 130 dB. I wonder if the ringing in his ears has stopped yet! Or .... maybe the meter was defective and it was really not that loud?

    Jumper Clips On Summits

I have spades on the wires to the amps, and lockable bananas on the home-made jumpers. I didn’t use spades on the jumpers as I don’t like the idea of two spades under one binding post.

Anyone know about premium power cables that fit the AC to Dc

I’m well aware of that. I chose to use a power conditioner to clean up the AC to the speaker.
