I am of the mind that match your HT speakers as much as possible. I have the Fresco as a center but it is matched with Montages so you create a nice front field.

I've enjoyed the sound with NAD integrated amp, C372. I also use the Montages in a HT with a NAD T763.

cvj, I am confused. You mention a jump in cost. I thought the Vistas are about the same price -- about $2,500 --(after discount) as the Aeon-i s. If the Vistas are better, why is the Aeon-i the better deal? And aren't the Vistas easier to drive and have better dispersal? What am I missing? Now...

As I am understanding it, he is talking about Montages for $850, Mosaics for about $1350 so the Aeons would be a good $800 more.

I have both the Mosaics and the Montages. My opinion would be to go with the Mosaics if you are mostly going for music. If you mostly are doing home theater, go with the Montages.

I've been wondering if there is just some people who respond to the esl/planar sound and others who respond to the cone speakers. The first time I heard the Martin Logans, I knew in 5 seconds that I preferred that shound. Cones are difficult for me to listen to.

If you only want the local stations, you need an over the air antenna and you would probably need it even if you had cable or satellite. If you like sports, a cable or satellite with ESPN and TNT is nice. I love the programming on HBO which looks great in HD. Here is a link to the AVS forum...
