Absorber or Diffuser Panel Behind Els speakers?

Tons of threads on this topic, please use the search function. My experience and results from hundreds of actual measurements of the impacts of diffusion vs. absorption lead me to recommend absorption behind the speakers if they can not be pulled out enough. If doing multichannel (music OR...

Esl 15a paired with Roger Sanders Magtech ?

Sure, that's no problem for that amp. Mine drives my huge Monoliths' naked (no passive XO) panel. That is pretty much the most difficult load one can ever present an amp.

    Bass Advice

When using four in a room shaped like yours (and my Media Room), the subs effectively work to cancel the room modes. It is best to use REW to figure out the best mix of phase settings on each sub, each pair of subs (front vs rear), and then the combo. Once that is as flat as can be made with the...

    Bass Advice

Ah, the infamous Monoray closed-back ESL system. My SL3XC center is now a closed back, works like a charm, very focused dialog now. As for suspending speakers for rear or tops, it's been done by our member Robin, just look at the pics on the first post. But I do not recommend ESLs for tops...

    Bass Advice

I totally agree with @Fidji99 post above. The room is too small for electrostats. I have a media room (in addition to my main HT) that has the exact same dimensions, and I did a write-up of that setup in this thread: https://www.martinloganowners.com/threads/media-room-–-quad-ml-sub-setup.17591/...

    Another Amp / Impedance / Bi-amp question

Yep, the XLS line is a fantastic bargain (especially lightly used or open box) for dealing with Gen1 ML ESL bass drivers and the inefficient and rather poor bass passive XO. The phase relationship is indeed less than ideal with the factory passive, so an active XO will help clear that up...

    Another Amp / Impedance / Bi-amp question

Efficiency might drop if the diaphragm has deposits on it, such as oily water vapor getting on it, then dust sticking to that. One guy had a set where the left speaker was close to the kitchen, and after years, his set (SL3's IIRC) had a large level imbalance, with the left being much lower than...

Martin Logan Theater center-channel panel rebuild

Thanks so much for sharing the story from your perspective and glad it worked out well for you. The lessons learned and shared are welcome, and everyone should also check out Charlie's page, as it's chock full of great information: https://jazzman-esl-page.blogspot.com/

    Another Amp / Impedance / Bi-amp question

I'd go for the Stereo Sunfire; it's a beast. I have three Sunfires, a Stereo, CG 5ch, CG Signature 5ch, and a Sanders ESL amp. The Sunfires are really good match for ELS. If you want to bi-amp, I suggest going active bass crossover, as the XO in the Sequel II and SL3 is not that great and miles...

Help posting a panel rebuild guide?

Charlie, since that page does not print well and has hard word wrap that makes it hard to read on mobiles or smaller screens, maybe a PDF would work best for printing. You can attach it by editing a post and adding it, or simply add one more post with the doc attached.

Hello everyone from a new member in Sweden

Welcome aboard. Yes, a subwoofer will help with all kinds of music, especially if it has room correction features, such as the ARC on ML Subs.

Help posting a panel rebuild guide?

Hi Charlie, Raw .docx is not allowed (vector for malware), so please save it as a PDF (File->Export and pick PDF), then you should be able to upload it. If that gives you issues, send me the doc or PDF via DM and I'll post it for you.

Martin Logan Theater center-channel panel rebuild

I see it as Yellow text on black background, but I'm running Chrome in forced dark mode (laptop with OLED screen), so even this site (MLO) is white text on black. Even the Edge browser shows a black background, and so does Mac Safari. So I think it's good.

MartinLogan announces breakthrough Monoray ESL line

I heard rumors that they would release a 5th-anniversary model with unique finishes, including brushed aluminum. Can't wait to see and hear these.

BACCH4Mac "Absolute Sound Product of the Year 2024"

This is really cool tech, and for folks with just 2ch setups, it's a large step forward. With a $1K intro option (plus M-series Mac), more folks can try it. Now, I'm skeptical of how well this will work with dipoles like our ML ESLs, as they have a large amount of temporal smear from the rear...

    Absorbtion or some diffusion

Leave the toe-in as-is, but do take care of that bare wall by using a wider, thicker absorber, like a RealTraps Minitrap HF (the HF lacks any limp mass).

Expression 13A, Source, Motion series Atmos tops and sides

Yes, and I believe the cohesion on the impulse plus low-GD helps, as the blend with the more localizable elements is much smoother. I spent over an hour tuning the MidBass modules for the smoothest Group Delay results, and sharp TomTom drum hits are impressive now, so 'in tune' with both the...

Expression 13A, Source, Motion series Atmos tops and sides

I doubt theaters would be a market, as they want to maximize the seat count, and a DBA or Waveforming setup limits the seating area (for ideal results). Also, the cost of 4x the amount of subs + amps.

    Any Martin Logan merchandise ?

They used to have an online store with cups, t-shirts, caps etc. I have a bunch I've accumulated over 3 decades, but not willing to part with it, sorry. I do hope they restart the online store; these days, it's a piece of cake to set up using any number of providers that print on demand.
