    Tube recommendation

I had used Jim McShane in the past also. I have used Viva and had a problem. They replaced the tube for me. Recently I have been using Kevin at Upscale Audio with good results.

Hello from Seal Beach, CA.... New ESL13As on the way!...

Henry, that would be a good thing. You can move it around the room and see how the sound changes. That will give you more information as to which way to proceed.

    Hello,

Hello Henry, I'm Brad. My room is 16' x 24' x 9'-6". Heavily treated acoustically. Reach out to member, Roberto, here, if you don't already know him. He lives in San Jose, Costa Rica and is an ML dealer. His room is smaller I believe. Wealth of knowledge.

Reviving older ESLs - burn-in required?

What are the upgrades. I could be better caps, resistors or point to point wiring rather than multi traces on the board.

SOLD my CLX, to me again!

I agree. 2 different sub manufacturers and 5 different amps. 3 tube and 2 SS amps always sounded better using the speaker lever connections. For me much more control and better integration.

Glad to hear the subs have given new life to your CLX.

Balanced force subs and subs in general rant !... Why a 100K speaker needs a sub...?

Chances are you may not get a response from 7 years ago. Most of us were not ruffled if matters Leporello. :) Wait, I just responded. Never mind.

Is tilting useful on the larger speakers?

If you go to the search icon and put in rake angle of panel, you will get at least 6 pages of comments. Every person has different opinions and every room is different. It takes a lot of trial and error. Good Luck, Brad

2 Sets of ESL's for bigger sweet spot

Roughly 70% of the sound is from the center channel. Hence the bulk of the sweet spot is created from that speaker. I would say work on improving that for a wider sweet spot. Good Luck Brad

    11As or 13As?

Sorry to hear of your electrical disaster. For me with that size room I would choose the used pair of 15a. If you won't purchase used then 13a. For amps the MagTech or Bircasti. If it were me I would be looking for tubes but that is my preference. Good Luck keep us updated on your direction of...

    Philipp from Germany, ML Spire

I built mine in the early 1980's. The top is from Maple. 3" thick with threaded rod running through it. I hand planed it flat with a 16" plane. A lot of time and sore mussels. Fortunately I was much younger then.
