Which Amp to buy? The most frequently asked question on this site. READ THIS!!

Hi RJ mate, yeah everything is cool, (but too busy with work as always). I guess I have to buy another sofa for my living room 😄 I have the speakers at 4ft now, which was a HUGE difference with 3ft. So I can imagine only 5ft will give another improvement..... so yep now that sofa has to go...

    Outlets

Wow I this is a very actual topic for me as I recently bought a new Gigawatt 16A Circuit breaker which opened up everything with a more clear and stable sound, wider stage etc, compared to the cheap house circuit breaker.... I too saw the 20A inlet I wanted to use and thought would be better as...

Which Amp to buy? The most frequently asked question on this site. READ THIS!!

Again, so very true what you write here, as usual...! Hi RJ, how are you doing mate? One thing that popped up in my mind after reading this was the many system upgrades a friend of mine did over the years. It was always an improvement but a real big one was when he had his room measured and...

    DIY Ripole Subs

Ah cool, I didnt know it lowered the FS with 10hz. But I believe with IB it also plays a lot lower than its original FS. Yeah thats what I noticed too when I heard open baffle subs at a show. It is extreme clean... also fast and no boxy at all... For me I dont want a box speaker again. Although...

    DIY Ripole Subs

Nice! These were on my plans list for a while, and now with the purchase of CLS higher on the to do list. But I was also thinking about a true IB (infinite baffle) sub. And then use 15" or 18" subs... or maybe those in the Ripole. Have you tried IB too? How low would you think the...

Yes indeed brand speakers are always measured in an anechoic chamber.

And indeed, the room could give a gain at around 30hz from many db's like I have in one room... (all concrete walls and floor). There when a speaker plays low to below 30hz at -3db it becomes really irritating with certain songs. In that room a speaker that plays down to 50 or 60 hz at -3db...

I think its because of this. The linearity of speakers are usually measured and given in -3db. Within the -3b line the CLX's wideband goes from 56hz and up to the highest frequency within -3db. The -4 db is never given as a measurement, although a speaker could go really low in that (-1db)...

That is strange indeed.... The specs are always measured in a anechoic chamber... and to have it always or usually play 20 hz lower in a typical room is strange...

CLS-II ... some crazy mod ideas

Yeah I know what you mean... I've got some wishes too but you can spend so much that you want or have... to spend, 30 yrs ago if I would have had a million, then I would spend 80% on audio... it was that important (but I didnt have much to spend) today its max 20%.... or less... And now I...

CLS-II ... some crazy mod ideas

Well Greg, that is something to be proud of, really! For a first project you nailed it! (y) I habe been building diy speakers for over 3 decades now and wish I had gotten into dsp earlier. I have done all the crossovers (parallel and series) passive, with calculations and tweaking by ear...

CLS-II ... some crazy mod ideas

Yes thats true, the ML guys really know what they are doing. And I know nothing about electrostats... (But a bit about speakers and crossovers). Also one thing is that I havent heard my CLS working correctly so far in my room (as they are defective at the moment). So the real beauty of them I...

CLS-II ... some crazy mod ideas

Nice!, I always like out of the box thinking... (but imo often simpler is better). For my CLSII (I think I have the A- models) I was also thinking of doing something like this... (or a bit different). - with Ripole subs. (The CLS fullrange from 80 or 100hz or so) - or use only the mids from...

Ticking CLS II - lets make it sing!

Yes thanks! that suggestion was noted indeed and a good one. I am actually waiting for a new inlet that will be from the main fusebox in the house to inside the livingroom with a good cable. From there to the equipment with the right tweaked cables. A power cable for the source and Dac matters...

Ticking CLS II - lets make it sing!

Off topic; Also another hobby of mine (I have to many expensive hobbys) is caraudio that was sleeping for more than 10 years but I want to finally have it good in my daily driver as also in my classic car... (because I am real happy with my daily driver now, and the classic Jag I have since I...

Ticking CLS II - lets make it sing!

:D yeah I noticed that!... I whish I had the time and drive.... I have worked too much the last 5 years... so too tired unfortunately..... and so much to do.... Having your own business can be nice, but exhausting too.... Time to sell it.... And then!... yeah I am comfortable to buy a set...
