    New CLS Panels

How much were the new panels? My CLS 1's still sound fantastic, but I'm always worried about them starting to fail?

Shunyata Research.... are they worth it?

Yes, I still am using the placette. Its a great piece of gear.

Shunyata Research.... are they worth it?

Yes, the capacitor connects the pos. and neg. terminals of the outlet. Grounding is always safer.

Shunyata Research.... are they worth it?

A system's noise floor has to do with the softest, finest, most minute level of detail that you system can reproduce at a given sound level. A system with with a higher noise floor would have to be turned up louder to hear the same level of detail. This is usually associated with...

Shunyata Research.... are they worth it?

I don't want to disassemble mine for pictures. Look at the bottom picture on this page: http://www.10audio.com/diy_power_conditioner.htm I only used the Vishay noise suppression capacitors (i.e., no varistors) as shown in last picture on the web page. Instead of a powerstrip. I chained...

Shunyata Research.... are they worth it?

Hi Joey, Go ahead an make one with enough outlets for your application. They work great! The capacitors are cheap. They ship them out really quickly. I used some PVC outlet boxes and cut-up some cheap power cords to wire mine up. I brought them over to a friends and he was floored. Needless to...

Apple TV - "Insert unhappy face here"

Review: Apple Appalls Where Xbox Excels: http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/070404/tech_test_apple_tv.html?.v=2 ". . . I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. Wait, I forgot to mention: no cables. $299 retail price and the Apple TV does not come with any cables. Not even the cheap RCA ones...

    Vantage with McIntosh or Rouge

Noise floor has nothing to do with noise per say. It is the ability of a system to produce sounds at very low levels. The db level where sound drops offs/starts. Critically important for natural sounding music at lower levels. A low noise floor allows you to hear the inner/fine details of the music.

    CLSIIz

See starred comments above... On a whim, I just lined up three pair of skis behind the speakers. Two pair on one side, one pair and my hot water heater sized tube trap on the other. A definite improvement. I am going to have to make some room lenses.

    CLSIIz

This prompted me to finally try raising my CLS's. I have them raised an additional eight inches off the ground. The trade-off is I completely lost some of lower bass and some mid-bass weight with the CLS's raised. Too my ears, you need a sub with them raised. I am currently running the CLS's...

    Upgrading to summits?

You don't need to go used to compete, even in you factor in tons of head room. For under 5K, you can pick-up a pair of ASL Hurricanes. They can more than push the big Soundlabs, Wilson's etc.

$ No Object - Could Have Only One Component In Your System - What Would You Choose?

If you a leave a custom designed room out of he picture; How about a Transrotor Gravita turntable ? I guess you could hang a Schroeder Reference Arm on it. Let's top it off with a Miyabi 47 cartridge. OK, Let's add a SME V and ZXY Universe too. Would we be able to add step-up's and phono...

    help! i've got piano distortion!

I wonder what it would sound like if you used a Marshal amp to drive a pair of ML's instead of a Marshal stack? I would think it could handle the load.

    Upgrading to summits?

Yes, the Six Pac's really do sound like a powerhouse of an amp unless you really push them to stupid levels. They've got muscle, body, and finese. Hey, but stupidly loud can be fun. Its a trade-off. I usally save cranking the punk/punk rap kind of stuff for the car.
