Illusion owners...where do you cross over?

Well, there's 1250 watts of Gryphon power and there's 1250 watts of "Jimmy's Banging Amp Co" power. ;) Given that you're using what it likely one of the best processors available, I have a feeling you're also using great amps. That leads me to think it's a matter of quantity, not quality...

Illusion owners...where do you cross over?

Got it - so reference is an actual 105dB+. Thanks for confirming. You blew a tweeter in the Illusion as well? Agreed about the possibility of faulty construction on the woofers, but if that tweeter is on the Illusion I'm curious what the amp is in front of it. Edit: also, how large is your...

Illusion owners...where do you cross over?

I didn't think Rob was being sarcastic, but perhaps I misunderstood. If you're on a 24 db/octave crossover slope in your processor, then I would think you'd be quite safe... even without your intelligent - I agree with Rob! - application of the 60 Hz ARC software / speaker crossover "backup" to...

    I’m back!

I'm pretty sure you'll love the M1200s with the 13As. And if you don't, roll some tubes! (Brent Jesse should be bookmarked in your browser.)

    I’m back!

I’m using M1200s with 15As. No problems, sounds wonderful. I also have a pair of Odyssey Audio Kismet monoblocks that I will eventually swap back in for comparison, but both are outstanding. The M1200s use less power when idle.

2021 new gen Apple tv 4k Dolby Atmos Problems

@Robert D I had one small but frustrating glitch last weekend, that could have been related to a firmware update on my processor. I lost the center channel on one single program that I had paused, and all my standard "fixes" didn't work. I played other shows. They had no loss of the center...

Illusion owners...where do you cross over?

Going back to the OP's original question, I'm using 80 Hz for my home theater (HT) crossover setting for the Illusion. I don't do the mid-bass boost though, and I also don't play at "reference" volume levels, as I generally prefer my loudest playback not to exceed about 95 dB. That said...

A Sincere From My Heart Question Regarding the Future of ML ESL

It's easy to complain about how someone - or some business - does something. I don't need to reiterate TheBrokenPixel's comments above, but I will mention some other considerations. Print ads - at least when I was exposed to them 20+ years ago - were always submitted 3+ months before the...

The "entry level" combo looks like it's around $8k today: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/searchpage.jsp?id=pcat17071&st=kaleidescape I have the 12TB server, but it looks like they've priced the 22TB server now around the same range as I paid for the 12TB. Paired with the player, that's around...

I've had a very busy schedule and don't have a lot of time at the moment for extensive comparison testing, but - and this isn't the comparison that you (the royal You) likely want - I have Top Gear Maverick on my Kaleidescape system as well as available through Amazon Prime, so I compared a...

BACCH4mac, you really should try it

Whether or not that's the same person I know (online) who picked up the Adio, it's likely at least a similar situation: a very respectable system, likely in a very well treated room, and the BACCH brings tremendous improvement. So @Rich it should have a material effect even in a well-treated...

    ReQuest Melted Crossover Inductor

I am not an engineer, but have you checked the reQuest specs? On my 15As, I believe I recall seeing they can drop as low as 0.5 ohm in the upper frequencies. So one question might be what's the impedance of the panel vs the impedance of the woofer, as that will potentially play a role in...

Until I do a firm A/B comparison (and I plan to do so vs my Kaleidescape system as well), I have to leave the door open on placebo effect. But... I will emphasize that what I'm seeing is a significant improvement. It's absolutely not subtle. I can't imagine this is a placebo effect...

Another trickle of not-yet-well-based opinion: I'm not quite sure how to describe the improvements over the standard AppleTV. They are not subtle. *Everything* is substantially better and more natural. Much like when I acquired a new DAC earlier this year, I am finding myself staying up...

Impression of my new Power Sound Audio S2112M subwoofer

Any idea what the IPAL brings to the table that the standard version doesn't? I'd be folding this in with two BF210s and might put it at the rear of my large room, replacing a Dynamo 1100X. Or I could put it in an out-of-site location along the right side of the room, behind my couch...

Impression of my new Power Sound Audio S2112M subwoofer

You have me seriously considering one of their subs. Maybe the "special" IPAL version, though I have to admit I was watching a movie last night and the dog, cat and I were all startled by an explosion, so the current setup isn't necessarily weak...

    ATVX Discussion

I had a whole post in-progress to link back to this and split out the AppleTVX subject, but a Windows update trashed that. I'll set it up again shortly, but I'm just posting to say I have the AppleTVX in my rack as of last night, and I will observe and compare before posting back with any...

If the mods would like to split it out, I'd be fine with that... though I do think it's generally related to the 2021 AppleTV subject. So is now a bad time to go further off-topic with an interesting observation about SDR and HDR? @Robert D I definitely plan to compare though I don't know if...

    ATVX Discussion

I've ordered one. Should ship Monday. Chris mentioned jitter multiple times. My interpretation of the message he gave is that the industry didn't know about jitter in audio when CDs were released. We just knew something didn't sound right, then when the jitter issue was identified and cured...
