    Show me your pets!

Yep. Their preference is to ignore you. If you antagonise them, then their preference is to run away. But if you corner one and give it no other option..........you're not going to win the fight!

    Show me your pets!

I'm sure you'd have 100s in no time! They're a pretty adaptable animal, they thrive everywhere from the snowy highlands, the tropics and the desert.

Woke up to one in the back yard too recently. They swim! But while I've heard of it, this was a first.

    streaming help

Huh?? The mini has USB - what more do you want? Why would you use an old clunky SPDIF connector when you can use async USB?

Solid State Power Amp for Impression 11A speakers

Here's one for my Aussie friends. You get the chance to buy a Pass amp for about the same price as our US friends. Only catch, you have to buy used :) https://www.stereonet.com/forums/topic/573682-pass-labs-xa308-power-amp-like-new/

Solid State Power Amp for Impression 11A speakers

Yeah - $USD 18,000 is about right. So as I said - us Aussies like to complain about it, but it is not **THAT** bad to be honest. It has been far worse historically.

    streaming help

Welcome to 2006 !! Streaming is great, but how you get into it will really depend on what you've already got, and whether you want to go through ripping all your own music, or just use something like Tidal or Qobuz. As above, if all you want to do is stream - you've probably already got the...

Solid State Power Amp for Impression 11A speakers

Here is the X350.8 at an Australian dealer. Basically......we take the "normal" price, and double it. :( https://www.classaaudio.com.au/mono-stereo-power-amplifiers/533-pass-labs-x3508-stereo-power-amplifier.html To be fair though we need to factor in: Exchange rate GST Lower volume due...

Solid State Power Amp for Impression 11A speakers

ML - also set line frequency. Of course, it shouldn't matter. But a 60Hz speaker will not work on our 50Hz supply. And vice versa I believe.

RIP High End - NEW Martin Logan Speakers! Motion XT F100 Review

Good question - I was wondering the same. I guess it's more or less a Paradigm.

    DAC Do or Don't?

It IS fun to experiment. I think we all enjoy it in some capacity. It is EQUALLY fun to discuss, debate and challenge one's prejudices. I hope noobdy is offended. I am certainly not. And it is never my intention to offend anyone. Problem with experimentation comes when people promulgate...

    DAC Do or Don't?

Jitter matters alright! It is just that it doesn't exist (by the core basic definition) on an async USB line!!! (see post above). That's why we use async connections. I know, the marketing folk love terms like that - but it does actually mean something. Funny how you've heard this impact when...

    DAC Do or Don't?

Well, you should try if you are going to spend big money on USB cables (you said you don't - no prob........just a generic statement. IE: the "royal" you) Before we discuss timing errors (or jitter), consider: definition: asynchronous --> not existing or occurring at the same time. It doesn't...

    DAC Do or Don't?

Why is data (that happens to represent music) different from any other data? (Regarding analogue cables - no argument from me. I use high-end analogue cables too).

    DAC Do or Don't?

I absolutely trust my ears. I listen extensively before buying anything major. In the modern world of online ordering, I have bought nothing which can not be returned - and I have heard every online purchase (in some capacity at least) before I have purchased it. But I assure you, I have never...
