The quote was from ttocs, who says he is using a new LCR meter. I second the question.

Cheap solid state stereo power amp to drive 13a's for ocasional HT use (to save tube life of main amp)

Adcom is still around, though you don't hear much about them lately. My old 555 has been pressed into service many times to drive my 'stats, no real problems. I don't believe for a second that all amplifiers sound the same. But returns diminish rapidly. The days of unlistenable solid state...

You need power cords. Nobody is arguing against them.

Opinion of using the Emotiva XPA-DR1 to power a Martin Logan Focus Center Channel speaker

What exactly does that mean? That neither side of the output can be grounded? I don't see what being differential would have to do with using with speakers that are powered, unless both sides are separately referenced to ground, in which case it isn't true differential.

Easy way to move your ESL's?

Funny, it works for me, though it asks for permission to use my location. But if you're just optimizing the positioning, those dollies are overkill (and they will affect the sound, at the very least by changing the height). The slider disks I use should work fine for that. I hope my link...

Easy way to move your ESL's?

I don't know what others are recommending because I'd have to follow every link. As far as putting your speakers permanently on castors, spikes are usually recommended when possible, though they don't leave a bare wooden floor unmarked. Truthfully, I've never evaluated the sound closely with...

    ML uses inadequate power cables?

I put my CLS II's on Sound Anchor stands designed for them and it made a huge difference in clarity and imaging. On the one hand, there is no measurement I know of that can usefully quantify such a change, but on the other, putting speakers on stands is a definite change in the...

    ML uses inadequate power cables?

I wouldn't go so far as to say that anything you can hear, you can measure. REW in particular, is dependent on path lengths, which can change if the microphone moves by a millimeter, or by a butterfly flapping its wings in Paris. No two REW sweeps are exactly the same. But I will say that any...

Unless you've actually tried it, don't knock it :-)

"Diractance" could be the effect of magnetic monopoles, which Dirac was the first to hypothesize the possible existence of.

    ML uses inadequate power cables?

If someone claimed an amp required break-in for the electrolytic capacitors to form, or something like that, I'd at least listen. But anyone who claims something goes from unlistenable to listenable with break-in is unquestionably blowing smoke out of his posterior.

"Are recommended". Passive voice. I'm sure they're recommended by some, including said dealers.

    ML uses inadequate power cables?

When you're done looking at that, consider the other end: probably standard Romex 14 or 12 gauge, to your service box. Possibly BX, which would be effectively shielded, but still regular copper, not 99.9...% oxygen free.

    Small Sweet Spot

Including the snark about Obama. (Note: I don't discuss politics here or on any other audio forum. If you want to debate politics there are about a million forums to do that on). The first thing to understand about "sweet spots" is that soundstage is an illusion. A stereo system consists of...

I feed my CLS II’s with 6’ of the Blue Jeans 10 gauge Belden with locking banana plugs from my Parasound JC 1 monoblocks mounted near the speakers. If anyone thinks there would be a “night and day” improvement” with something else they are welcome to bring them over to my setup. Otherwise I...

    ML uses inadequate power cables?

P.s forgot about the active woofer on the 13a. So you probably can’t do the test since the woofer amp would discharge the power supply quickly. But I stand by my recommendation.

    ML uses inadequate power cables?

If you’re worried about the sound of the cords powering your ESL’s try listening without. Most of them will continue to play for quite a while. If you hear a difference then worry. Personally I have no use for boutique power cords in general and even less when they’re not even delivering...

    Hello everyone!

To me, based on my experience with the CLS II versus the Ascent, I would chose the CLS hands down over any of the earlier hybrids. I have heard the newer Masterpiece series at shows, and they sound promising. But I've never auditioned them with program material I found suitable (apparently...
